It´s easy to use power with high damage output, which seems to provoke certain people. Others can´t stand its visual effects.
It´s also very trendy here on BSN since bad-mouthing EDI has gotten old.
Although I never had any problems with flamer users, outside of one instance where I had three flamers to shoot through with sniper rifle. But that was still fun :D

Forgive me, I'm still somewhat new to the ME3 party, but....why do people hate on EDI? AIU is a legit character...or is that why they hate on her, b/c it's a legit play?

more or less

Lol thanks. Consider me educated

I don't really have a problem with EDI. With the nerf to Repair Matrix, she is not as OP as before (so long as she is not using the Reegar).

As Kislitsin said, she has high damage output, cloak(that significant portion of BSN hate more then anything else) and very high survivability. The idea of some "weaker" player being able to reach same results as them just thanks to EDI unfortunately irritates some people. I guess they feel less special or something...

So basically she's a good character that, when played right, somewhat trivializes the game/scoreboard, and thereby, the epeen. Got it :)

Lets create a co op game and give the players, who are supposed to work together, stuff to blind each other and make everyone's screen shake. Obviously, these things do not affect the AI in any way - they can look through everything and have pin point accuracy even when the world implodes.

Teamwork 2.0? ... seems legit.

Also flamer has a DoT duration after flaming, so you don't even need to just spam flamer, use your gun more.

I love you.Image IPB

Also flamer gives people higher epeen. That is one thing people take too seriously on BSN.

But the point of team work is roles, positions and tactics. I don't see any particular tactics in four people clustered together, all shooting at the same thing. And in case of flamer, it's a flame thrower. It is supose to burn, and the bigger, the better, or would you preffer an over sized 30m ranged blowtorch?

I agree. There's no way you can say wave 8+ on any faction isn't made easier by having someone who's competent w/ their flamethrower. Flank and destroy

The only issue I have with Flamer and Snap Freeze is that they overwrite biotic primers. This wouldn't be a problem if you didn't get a Acolyteflamer or a SnapFreezespammer in every single lobby. And by that I mean EVERY single lobby.

No one's disputing this. Competent is the keyword though, and that goes for all kits...

The point of teamwork is to work together, to be stronger than the sum of all individual parts (when done right of course). Things like the Flamer are prone to accomplish the opposite hence why I don't particularly like it. Hell, I refuse to use stuff that is going to annoy my teammates instead of helping them out in a meaningful way. Anyone who wants to use it for some reason is free to do so, but I will stay as far away from those "teammates" as possible and don't revive them b/c I find the game more enjoyable without getting trolled by crap like that.

Good tactics mean that everyone does what they do best. Flamer kits ensure that their teammates' tactics won't work properly anymore unless they go lone-wolving - which is perfectly fine, but has little to nothing to do with playing tactically.

The "competent" w/ the flamethrower bit was tongue-in-cheek. No competency required to center enemies in giant ball of fire and melt faces. But in principle obviously you are right, competency with a kit is key to extracting

Use it anyway. Play solo on another part of the map. Join another lobby. Doesn't matter imo. I always try to compliment my team and I always try to make the game as enjoyable as I can for everyone, but if I feel like the flamethrower will benefit the team and someone disagrees, then I'm sorry, but I'm going to use it anyway b/c I'm going to melt a Brute w/ my thrower a lot faster than you're going to kill it w/ your Mantis from the back of the map. #reality

Oh, this is kind of cruel. Poor guys don´t even know why you are not reviving them.

I have to say I had many funny games with flamer users. Even if I was biotic. I just spammed throw and there were fire explosions everywhere. It was just as effective as any other strategy.
