A lot of people spend a lot of time worrying about what someone else is doing.
I was in a gold match tonight with a pair of Vorcha flamers who just flamed the ass out of everything that came close to them. They routinely flamed all the things and I responded by routinely setting off the fire explosions they unwittingly primed. They made for fine bullet-stoppers.
At no point was I capable of giving a single or multiple sh** about what they were doing. I dunno if they had fun in that match, because they died left and right. But I had fun.
This! A thousand times this.
I don't care what other people do in my matches. I'm there to have fun for me and if I'm concerned about what another person does then I'm probably not. Couldn't realy tell you much of what most of the people I play with do. Might be able to remember certain players characters. But what they did? Nope. I was too busy doing my thing and having fun doing it.
It's a co-op game and you're not concerned about what other players are doing? If that's how you have fun, by all means. But from my experience the other players do affect how I play the game and how much fun I'm having with it. Especially when they actively prevent me from doing my thing and having fun doing it.
That said, flamer spammers generally don't prevent me from doing my thing, so I have no problem with them.
I can't speak for Starlitegirlx, but I like to be able to go into a match and perform consistently well, regardless of the character I'm using, and regardless of the inventories and skill level of other players. This means I don't care what characters they take, or what they do in a given match. If I see an easy opportunity for teamwork, I'll take it, and if I can revive someone without getting killed, I'll do it. But otherwise, they can flame all the things and Shockwave all the things and Acolyte all the things, and it won't affect me one way or the other.
Over the past two weeks, I've encountered more and more new players in U/U/G who were simply unprepared for Gold. I mean guys going in with no consumables or gear; guys with low level Uncommons. I've tried getting my friends to get more comfortable in Gold matches, but they're more interested in grinding CP. When they're interested in ME3 at all, that is.
I used to avoid PUG Golds like the plague, but nowadays, I just don't care, because I simply want to play. And I don't want my level of fun to be dependent on what someone else in the match is or is not doing.
