Jack, Jacob, Zaeed, and Grunt. As far as characters go they are probably my least favorite and I don't think I'd miss them. I liked Grunt's little story arc in 3, but I'm not a particular fan in 2. Also, I'd dump Zaeed twice if I could, he's my Paragon shep's worst nightmare.

Zaeed, Jack, Jacob are my easy picks. After that it gets tough, either because I find certain characters to be useful in a fight (Thane, Samara), or because I like them as characters (Tali), or because they are both (Garrus, Miranda, Mordin, Kasumi). That kinda leaves Legion, except without him I can't make peace in ME3. I guess I would dump Samara as my fourth pick. (Her "your life is mine" can get rather old rather fast, as much as I find Reave to be useful.)

They're all of my family, I cannot do that. @N0rke removing Zaeed and Grunt will cause the death of at least one of your squadmates.

Your requirements could be met without removing anyone from the game. Don't wake up Legion or Grunt and don't recruit 2 other squad members before the SM. Then wake them up/recruit them after the SM is done.

True. I have never revived Legion after the suicide mission. I either gave him to Cerberus or took him on the suicide mission.cap and gown wrote...

My issue is that only 8 is required to go through the Omega-4 relay and everyone survive, why do we need 12 squadmates? Maybe Bioware wanted to give us a more selection of different characters and species to have then what was in ME1.
I also believe if we didn't have to have Tali, Garrus and Jacob give upgrades to the ship, you could survive the suicide mission with only 6 squadmates. I would have the ship upgrades become available at certain points in the game where they can be purshased with enough minerals.
