As a Star Trek DS9 guy, I agree with that assessment.

I'm pretty suited to potentially enjoying this game as I haven't played any shooters online literally ever so whatever feels tired and Battlefield-y to some will be fresh and new to me. 12 maps at launch seems decent so long as they're varied; it's true I wish there were a nice meaty campaign, but alas, it is what it is.

Shooters have had a nice "meaty campaign" since the 1990's and early 2000's.

Stupid people wanting to play with more than four people that were required to sit next to them...

I'm going to wait until the game is released before I make a judgement on it. But I can easily understand why people are upset.1430771180980.jpg

It's worth noting that many things on that chart are now known to be false.

Peoples thoughts on Battlefront are misguided nostalgic self induced brainwash

So...hoping for a decent/meaty campaign, space battles, and Clone Wars period is "misguided nostalgic self induced brainwash"?

That's another bold claim considering that I last played Battlefront 2 not even a whole year ago. Not many of my games can claim to have the honor of me going back and playing them 10 years after they released. I don't mind the multiplayer and I welcome it, but they should not have took out the campaign or other modes for it. Playing with Bots was all I did in Battlefront and Battlefront 2 with exception to the rare moment that I got a friend to come over or my dad to play and I really loved both games with just the bots. It was just so fun and all of the maps had so much character.

Peoples thoughts on Battlefront are misguided nostalgic self induced brainwash just like the Fallout guys song and dance about FO3 not being just like FO1&2. Just like Halo guys pissing and moaning about Halo Reach, 4, and 5. Just like Star Trek TOS guys vs TNG guys vs Abrams Trek guys. Just like Gaben vs the making a game in a series go to number 3. Just like Hollywood always rebooting movies in sadly horrific ways.

I disagree. This is nothing subjective like someone's preference of artstyles, gameplay styles, narrative structure, character personalities, or soundtrack of a previous or another game. People are being charged more for a product who's predecessor offered more modes of gameplay options, while adding little to cover for their absence.

Your post is comparable to a McDonald's employee telling a customer to accept the fact that their new meals offers half the quantity of food they used to, but now cost more, and that the customer's objection to the arrangement is based on a misguided sense of nostalgia.

The root of my point is that the original's are dead and this new game wouldn't suffice even if it walks on water and gives everybody free lifetime passes to the Sizzler because everyone's minds were made up at the before this game's announcement. People have been idolizing the cancelled BF3 for years and nothing DICE can do will win them over.

So classes are being dropped in favour of a more freeform gear and weapons load-out system you can select before starting a game.

There is also going to be a partner system where you can link up with another player and use them as a spawn point, share HUD information, and share unlocked weapons.

Pay to unlock supporting gear like a repair torch for your teams vehicles vehicle.

That can be said about all FPS games these days though.

No classes eh? What can possibly go wrong?

Just depends on how deep you can customize weapons and armour and how skills are handled.  This is one of those things we would need to see in action in order to gauge how effective it is or isn't.

Well they're not giving me any confidence with no single player, limited planets etc. I'm trying to remain hopeful, but it's getting harder everytime DICE gives out details.

Lack of campaign is actually a blessing since DICE doesn't make exceptional campaigns. Just be glad Disney didn't hand Star Wars over to Activision and then we end up with SWCoDBattlefront.

Yeah we're probably just going to end up with Star Wars: Battlefield.

I am expecting nothing but Star Wars: Battlefield so it's not going to be that bad in my opinion.

I wasn't hopeful to begin with when I found out DICE was making Battlefront. I set my expectations extremely low and I still found them going way underneath my expectations with no space combat, galactic conquest, prequel content, or campaign. I would never have imagined that those things would have been removed. I was just worried about how they'd handle the controls (specifically ships) and the split-screen mode (ironically it's in).

frankly thought the lack of content in terms of the previous title would turn enough people away. Then again, battlefield games have been in a tail spin since bf3/bf4.

Complete game crashing bugs that'll take multiple patches to fix. I hope to be blown away when they release gameplay.

Battlefield 4 was the only Battlefield that had crippling bugs at release that I can remember and EA doesn't have room for failure with any Star Wars games it puts out or Disney will take Star Wars back than you can say "I have a bad feeling about this".
