Honestly, it's really hard to trust the so-called "AAA" third-party devs nowadays. The 8th-gen era has really disappointed...

Space battles? Clone wars? A campaign? Don't worry, we got you covered. Buy the Season pass for 24.99!
I was kind of hoping for some actual gameplay but this is just a reveal...

The last 15 seconds or so looked in-game to me.
I think not having a campaign might be fine, if the gameplay and everything is done well. There are already so many "stories" throughout that timeline that it might get a bit repetitive, but who knows.

There are four locations in the game at launch: Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and Sullust,
Yeah, I don't think I'm getting it at launch unless those are some huge maps with lots of destructibility.
They didn't even show gameplay at the Star Wars Celebration like they led everyone to believe, makes me question the quality of the game even further.
No Space and no Campaign is what really sunk my interest in the game.
I'm probably going to wait and get it cheap off of Ebay or wait until they release a premium version.

Pfft! Gameplay videos? In this day and age? Haven't you gotten the memo? CGI trailers and engine footage take priority over everything else.

Still looked like a cinematic. I meant with the actual UI. But like I said, still a bit early.
By campaign, I mean something like the 501st in Battlefront 2. Not to mention the space battles (you know, the highlighted battles of the actual movie trilogy) and the Clone wars which the two animated series was the best part about the prequels. All of these stripped features aren't a good sign.

Hahaha, this looks like it's going to be amazing and all people here can do is complain that there won't be content from the sh*tty prequels? Stay entitled, BSN.
The sh*tty thing here is whose opinion who thinks clone troopers, prequel ships and stuff aren't good for a shooter game.

To be fair, the Droids did offer some rather unique gameplay mechanics compared to the other factions, and not just the Droidika either.
I loved it when I discovered that the droids could walk across the exposed portion of that asteroid base without taking damage, while the clone troopers had to use transports. ![]()

I thought the 501st Legion campaign in BF2 was probably the least interesting aspect of the whole game. The campaign missions didn't really get extra cinematics or areas and mostly just took place on existing maps, often without any new assets. It just didn't add anything fun in my opinion. If I was in the mood for comp-stomping, Instant Action playlists (BF1 was super awesome with those) and Galactic Conquest (BF2's strongest point) were the way to go.
Space battles weren't quite as meh as the campaign but they were close, so I'm not particularly sad to see them go. They were so unsatisfying - a stripped-down version of X-Wing or TIE Fighter with a boarding-action element that always felt silly.
EDIT: haha I don't know how to rhetoric

Yeah, god forbid that anyone complain when the previous entry had more variety in the form of space battles, more maps (seriously only 4, lol), a campaign, both the prequel and Original trilogy, and galactic conquest (it admittedly hasn't be denied yet, but I doubt it makes it). Even the original Battlefront had everything that I listed with the exception of space battles. If a game that came out 10 years ago and was part of the same series had space battles, then this one should too. Heck, the cancelled Battlefront 3 had it to where you could go from a ground battle to a space battle without a loading screen.
I guarantee you they are withholding maps, the space battle mode, and probably the Clone Wars era, to release as DLC. They'll release space battles as DLC just like they did with the dogfighting (I forget the exact name) mode in Battlefield 4.

A new campaign could reiterate on the old ones and give it more flavor, adding unique, scripted challenges that aren't attainable in an instant action game. Galactic conquest was probably the most repetitious and tedious experience for me in that game. It's not really liberating to have to spend time grinding for credits just to play as certain unit types. In this day and age, it can be revamped into something more refreshing.
As for space battles, I think they certainly have a place in battlefront, as unrestricted space combat combined with different ship types led to some depth in actual play. Add in some battlefield-esque flight mechanics and it has potential.

No space battles, a Reveal Trailer that's just engine footage, and the fact that we can't play as Clone War-era characters, vehicles, and planets (not the reason the PT was bad in the first place) are red flags for this game. And many fans really liked TCW, which was much better than the prequels.

Yeah, god forbid we want this game to be a Battlefront game and not a Battlefield re-skin.
P.S. And I'm going to start using the phrase "god forbid" more often. LOL.

It's a pity that the modding community can't do miracles ... and adding uber texture packs for games like SW:Battlefront 2 or ES(III):Morrowind can't make them look better than ES(IV):Oblivion...

I'm going to hope their use of the word 'locations' rather than maps implies that there might be several maps set on each of the four locations.
Though any more hopes seem likely to be dashed as per the rest of today's announcements.

Modders are amazing for sure, they pull off miracles. It's just too bad that they can't do that for consoles, which is what I'd be playing Battlefront on if I bought it and I know a couple of people on this forum that are in the same boat as well. ![]()

Apparently, there's something called a "Digital Deluxe Edition" that they're releasing.

You get access to five in-game items and the Battle of Jaaku.
Not interested, just giving the news.
