If only, Titanfall wasn't too bad a game all things considered, I'd say mechanics wise it was the best shooter of 2014, it just had a bad release time, coupled with little release content.

Titanfall at had lot more shortcomings that just little release content and unfortunate release schedule. The base idea was great no doubt and the basic execution not shoddy either, but the backend processes were completely FUBARed. A MP only game with such fundamental issues like client desyncs (one player sees one thing on his screen, another player something different) isn't just a big no-no, it is THE big no-no. Also a non-existent matchmaking system. Respawn did claim they had a matchmaking system that was supposed to learn players and then matchmake them based on that, but apparently that system was a very slow learner, or broken, either way ended with the same results, no match balance. Plus all the other issues where an online player can only shake his head, like having no private lobbies. Sure, they patched it in lateron, but that is something that HAS to be in the game on launch.

The issues Battlefront III might have in contrast to Titanfall isn't that it tries to be different, it's that it may try to be too similar to DICE's other mainstay franchise, Battlefield.

EA thought Battlefront III should be the last Star Wars game... only for oldsters who brought up with Episode VI-VI themselves.

EA message: This is the last game for you geezers. Play the heck out of it and then say goodbye to gaming!

Didn't they state that they wanted another Batman: Arkham Asylum take on the Star Wars games?

Visceral (Dead Space) is working with Amy Hennig (Legacy of Kain, Uncharted) on a Star Wars game.

I heard there's no campaign for this game. I get it, no single player story mode or anything....but how can you have a game...with just shooting people?

This is the direction the industry seems to be headed.

Unfortunately the "dude-bros" seem to have won

Which according to industry rumors may be a revived 1313.

Our last hope!

is there character creation? An overall objective?

I want to be a Jedi, a Sith, or a bounty hunter or something.........

It's a multiplayer game like Battlefield.

10 years and 2 console generations later, and we're regressing in terms of gameplay and features. *Shakes head in disappointment*

I think it looks fun, but I am 109 percent sure it will be riddled with microtransactions. Map packs, skins, weapon packs, you name it.

ok, serious noobie question:

never played Battlefront, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Titanfall, Destiny - any of those...

My gaming roots are DA, ME, Elder Scrolls, AC etc

But... I loved the ME3 multiplayer. + Big Star Wars geek.

So what is it with this?
Is it kind of ME3 multiplayer Star Wars version?
Are you fighting other live people, is this PvP (never played that either, only co-op vs AI)

Looks fun, but are there some fundamental things I need to understand to discern if this is for me?

(Should I play some Battlefield to give me an idea?)

Thank you !

It's PVP. Battlefield would give you a very precise idea as to what this is about.

Thanks. I'll give it a try (freebie with my EA Access anyway)...

This is the Battlefront 3 that I wanted:

Free Radical, why did you have to die?

I remember the first time I saw that you could go from planet to space. The hype was real.

Only if you're looking at the big hitter companies that make franchises that are on a lot of peoples' radar. You're only looking it at one part of the picture. That's like saying Hip-Hop is dead because Drake and Kanye-

I will buy it if I get galactic conquest and this armor. Plus plenty of maps, great gameplay and so on and so forth, with the game being not broken at launch.

CodyFull-SWE.png

With ARC attachments and you'll have the best goddamn clone armor in existence. Commander Cody armor for the win!!!

I'm still a little confused in that they chose not to include the Clone Wars. In addition to making a better war game than the Civil war, it was the only time the good guys had cool outfits.

To be fair, at least from Battlefront's perspective there was very little story to begin with. At least with 2, I never played 1. I don't know if the "dude-bros" won when there is only few games on the market that I assume that the poster is referring to.

It might be because the Galactic Civil War is more closely tied to the new movie than the Clone Wars era is.

I just hope they don't try to sell Clone Wars factions and maps as dlc at ridiculous prices. I would like to see the era again, though.

What attracted me to Battlefront (apart from the fact that it was a Star Wars shooter) was that it offered plenty of things to do; be it story mode, Galactic Conquest, Skirmishes, Hero battle, etc. If Battlefront 3 ends up with simply big multiplayer maps, then I think I'll pass.

But we'll see once we get closer to release.

I don't want to paint the devil on the wall here, but I reckon chances you'll end up disappointed are rather high.

Well I'm far from impressed over the little I've heard of it so far, so no surprises there.

But as I said, we'll see how the game turns out and what it offers down the line.

Not impressed -- So far it seems like Battlefield with a Star Wars make-over, if I'm right to assume there won't be any space combat scenarios either -- As much as I disliked the prequels, I enjoyed playing out the combat scenarios that took place in those films, like the raid on the Jedi Temple, while Temuera Morrison did the voice over narration, so it's disappointing they aren't gonna touch upon those at least in that regard.

According to an alleged insider: The AT-AT's aren't pilotable and are on the rails, you can only work the turrets.

"On a far more interesting note, industry insider Shinobi602 has given some insight into just what to expect from the Walkers in the game. Apparently these vehicles are effectively on rails, and players simply man the weapons, most likely hinting towards a walker assault mode."

I know. They're trying to go for a more "classic" aesthetic which I like in a way. I just think the CIS-Republic dynamic makes for a more interesting game considering the variety of troops and the more pitched nature of the Clone Wars.

Honestly, I'm counting on them releasing it as an expansion in the same fashion as Battlefield Vietnam, if they'll release it at all. Not that I'll object.
