Until Feb 2 The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition is free on the 3DS E-Shop.  Four Swords is a multi player version of Zelda (though it can still be played Single player) with co-op (or competitive) gameplay in an attempt to solve puzzles and gain rupees to compete for the top.

This version of the game is also not sold on the E-shop so when the promo ends the game is removed so it can not be purchased.

Promo is currently North America only.

Sweet. Wasn't this in the ambassador program?

I'm still waiting on A Link to the Past for the 3DS. Or more SNES titles in general.

Hasn't this been free for like an entire year? I remember grabbing it for free ages ago

So... change my store to North American then?

EDIT: And how big a download is it?

It was free before during the Zelda 25th anniversary stuff in 2011. Looks like they're doing it again.

I don't understand this about being a NA user. All you have to do is change your store and you're done.

I don't think you can just do that anymore.

Ah, I see what you mean. If you set up your Nintendo Network ID then you won't be able to switch regions anymore or buy in a currency that's not your valid in your region. Setting up your NNID is, apparently, only useful for downloading free stuff and demos. I'm not sure it's worth it. I haven't done it myself yet.

You think Nintendo would have made this available for Japan since Nintendo has been trying to improve the Japanese fanbase for the series. Being locked to NA just seems strange since that's the most popular region fanbase for the series..

Judging by LegendaryAvenger's comment I guess this isn't the version of Four Swords that was bundled with Link to the Past. Ah well, free is free.

Nah it is, iyou can just play it solo or with friends(sadly not online though) but it does not give oyu the bonuses in LttP. Still a free game so I won't complain.

I actually thought it was for using the eshop period. I couldn't access it without
making a Nintendo ID when the system update for the Miiverse came out.
