I feel this is relevant, because the problems only happen in me3mp. I woudl prefer not to continue to spend $60.00 on the legit wireless xbox controllers, because the battery packs suck, and I have purchased maybe 10 replacements over the life of my Xbox. I have been buying the knock off ones for like $20 bucks that are wired, but I notice the Xbox headset doesnt work verywell when I play me3mp. It is really crappy as far as the quality and often time other players cant hear me. I do not experience similiar problems playing Diablo 3 or Payday 2.

I was wondering if any of the other brands of mics work better with the non-legit xbox controllers. I enjoy playing on xbox but I also enjoy communicating while I play. Any suggestions on brands on or do I have to get the legit xbox controller?

I play with an off brand controller (one of the cheap ones like you mentioned) and a Turtle Beach headset. I bought the controller but the headset is my boyfriend's so it's just what was around when I started playing. Personally, I like the off brand controllers better. I tend to dig into the analog sticks with my fingers and all of that rubber coating comes off. The offbrands I buy are just hard plastic. I would avoid Razor Onza controllers; the mic port in them dies very quickly (I went through three in 9 months) and while they boast some really cool features, they are plagued with a lot of tech problems.

Spend for the rechargeable ones. They are TOTALLY WORTH IT. You just plug them in and put in the rechargeable batteries in and viola! I have never spent a penny on anything after that. I just put them in the slots when done playing and they recharge or stay charged. I even unplugged them for several months and when I plugged them back in they charged enough to play within hours. And I've gone through periods of playing about 18 hours a day while laid up at home. Rechargeable is the way to go. After the initial ouput, you don't need to spend a cent.

Any cheap mic will do. I think I paid $5 for mine. And I've only replaced it once.

Yeah definitely this. I used to have to spend something like 15£ every couple of months on batteries and I've never been an avid gamer (in the past, at least...) Now I play more then ever and I've probably saved hundreds of pounds. I've had my rechargeable controller for more than two years and it's battery life is still pretty decent. Of course, always go for the type that recharges while you play, which basically turns it into a wired controller.

Yes... those battery packs by micro do indeed suck... If the only issue is batteries...

https://encrypted-tb...L1wx8EUzLn_--JA

Got mine @ a local giant food on sale for $8.  That was for the charger, 2 AA and 2 AAA batteries.  Picked up another pack of 2 AA and 2 AAA rechargeables for another $6. Cant beat it.

Knock off controllers imho arnt worth the money, the mic inputs are usually bad, quality of controller isnt the greatest, usually end up crappign out on me far far far sooner than a actual brand controller does. The real deal controller is how to go.   I havent worried about batteries in either my controllers or my turtle beaches since.  I just change em out and recharge em every other day or so to make sure neither die mid game even if they dont need to be changed out.  Takes 20 seconds.

I only buy the rechargeable ones, but they seem to crap out at a very high rate. I probably have 5 or so sitting in a box at home as they no longer work. Hell I wish xbox would sell a standard wired controller, but they don't sell them in my area at any target's or walmart

Don't buy those BS double-AA recharge kits. I have a NYKO rechargable that came with it's own Xbox compat batteries for like $18 @ Walmart a few years ago. These batteries have lasted through 2 Xboxes and 5 controllers. They were compatible with my phat Xbox controllers, my slim Xbox controllers, and my Datel Evo Wildfiire controllers (it's a sh*t joystick btw, had 2 die in less than a 4 mths).

You can also use a cellphone headset with that already has a 2.5 plug (or run out to RS and get a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter fairly cheap).

Bleh, I can use my batteries in things outside of a xbox controller like tv remote controllers and flashlights or if you ask my gf other things that vibrate not xbox controllers (back messager, get your mind outta the gutter!).  Likewise, 2 xboxes and at least 5 controllers prolly 10 (ive been known to rage a controler football spiking it onto our lightly carpeted concrete floor effectively sending bits o controller all over! )....

I fail to see how hard it is to every other day pop out my turtle beach batteries, pop out my controller batteries, and plug them into the wall and be good to go.  They last more than every other day I just do it as habbit so my headset isnt dying mid game.

Mine eventually don't hold the charge as long.  But those energizer ones I put through hell and can get at least a year per set (2) easy.

Errm... I was referring to gaming recharge kits they sell with batteries, not universal kits you can pick up at any hardware store. The double AA and AAA batteries they sell with those are crap. The powerpack gaming chargers are much better. I've own the same batteries for YEARS now. They don't hold the same charge they used to, but I still get 4-6hrs (per battery) before I have to recharge again. As far as the universal battery chargers, you're still losing money by having to purchase newer batteries.

That's all I have used and love them.
