Mr. Gaider, I always assume Qunari born outside the Qun are just called Qunari while the Tal-Vashoth are those who abandoned the Qun, so when you said Tal-Vashoth, does it mean we're ex-quanri?

Mary tells me that the PC would technically just be Vashoth. Either way, it's a distinction that's only going to be relevant to the Qunari themselves. Everyone else will simply say "Qunari", no matter where you were born.

I'm going to be mighty upset if at least ONE PERSON doesn't call me "one of the ox men."

Ok we can play as Qunari that much has been made very clear what I want to know is are we able to play as members of the same species who have abandoned the Qun: the Tal-vashoth.

All PC Qunari are Tal-Vashoth.

Yeah I'd imagine most Politically correct Qunari are Tal-Vasoth.

They get annoyed when we correct people using the word Kossith too. They just hate to see us children argue.

You know, real-life small-q 'q'unari are undoubtedly very upset someone is using archaic terminology to refer to them, and are horribly offended.

Or would be, I guess, if they actually existed. :innocent:

Since all we have is an imprecisely used rule of capitalization that appears not be agreed upon, and some insisting that the k-word be banned from discourse, that's it. We still need a term for those of the race without the religion/belief system of the Qun ...

I'm using "horny guys". Period. :D

Still, I wonder if the PC Qunari is a Tal-Vashoth whose parents were already Tal-Vashoth and thus the PC has never been taught any Qun, or if the PC Qunari is a Tal-Vashoth that left on their own to live in an Andrastian country.

Again, two things seem problematic with using the term. From the Wiki:

The Tal-Vashoth[/b] are Qunari who abandon the Qun. It is not specific to race, and thus former Qunari dwarveshumans, and elves can become Tal-Vashoth. "Vashoth" literally means "grey" and the prefix "tal" means "true," hence Tal-Vashoth meaning "True Grey" in Qunlat.

A Tal-Vashoth is anyone who abandons the Qun, OF ANY RACE. Secondly, they must reject and abandon the Qun.

Now that some "horny guys" - don't want to offend the k-word pc police - might be being raised in a situation where they were never exposed to it in the first place .... what do we call them?

A certain k word might work perfectly, even if it's an archaism.  Or we could stick to the small-q/big-Q word system, but let's hope you'r caps lock key doesn't fail.

Which makes the Xbox and PS Qunari Qunari.

No really wanting to get involved here, but you know any race who submits to the Qun would be referred to as "Viddithari" by the Qun. That's how Qunari society would call them while other race would most likely call them something like "elven qunari" and so forth.

Overall call them what you want, just understand you'll never hear the term Kossith mentioned in-game.

I believe the appropriate name we are looking for over K word or Q word in human society is "horn head".

Not with a small q, guy. Get with the arbitrary convention.

Small q = the race of horny-folk. Big Q = Followers of the Qun, of all races, including 'small q' qunari.

I would stick to using it if everybody would agree on using the rule consistently.

Fine with that, but I don't get why any rule over offensive archaic terminology for imaginary beings needs to be enforced on the forums. :innocent:

P.S. viddathari are new converts. What if they are elves, dwarves, or humans raised in the Qun from birth?

Not for following rules for something this'll be my last post about. People seem to get offended because they invest way too much emotion in the lore of the game. No idea why that is. Daddy issues maybe?

And I'd be really surprised if we met any humans, elves, or dwarves born under the Qun. If we did I'd say it would mostly be a Tallis situation where we don't know they're Qun at first.

Probably the first one, since we apparently are technically "Vashoth"(Gray Ones) instead of Tal-Vashoth(True Gray Ones). "Vashoth" are qunari who either were never a part of the Qun or do  not go out of their way to oppose/fight it. Tal-Vashoth were Qunari and left the Qun and now are violently against it.

This may be getting into plot territory so feel free to ignore, but does that mean that if you were going to portray the Qunari PC meeting other Qunari, that suddenly we would have the opportunity to engage in these distinctions?

As it so happens, I amd the person who edited the article to its current form (as evidenced dragonage.wikia.com/index.php here), so I know the difference. :)

But anyway, I thought that maybe Mr Gaider meant that the PC is not a follower of the Qun, and anything else is possible.
