Which one do you prefer? Did the devs mention which one will be chosen as main Elven Inquisitor background? I think its important to know based on how different the people interacted with City Elf Warden and Dalish Warden. They are literally from two different worlds. There are also details about being a mage, will we be a hidden apostate from a city or a first to a keeper from a clan?

No matter how little, devs please give some information regarding this matter :)

I don't really care about the Dalish.

Huh.

I actually don't know which is the one we'll be playing.

Curious. I've thought of it in my head as Dalish, but it'd be different if City.

The rumor is that the Mage will be Dalish, we don't know if the warrior and rogue Inquisitor would be different.

I don't really have a preference though. Both interest me.

City Elves REPRESENT! they're at the bottom of every rung of society (unless their mages), and having one rise to become the Hero of Ferelden and then the Inquisitor would be a nice middle finger to the Orlisians.

I rather be Dalish as it made perfect sense to me probably as my one and only playthrough of Origins was the Dalish Warden Mage

Didn't Bioware's canon warden is a Dalish elf? I would rather for a city elf takes the glory this time.

I would prefer Dalish, but I do find both interesting so I won't be disappointed if we're a City Elf.

Circle Mage, since they can be elves as well.

Out of the two, Dalish.

@Serge You can play an ex-Circle Mage, but the Circles were dissolved as of the end of DA2, according to the end dialog (9:40 Dragon.)  This looks like it takes place a year or two after that.

Default, not canon.  On topic, hopefully both are an option across the 3 classes.  Makes sense that an Elven Mage would be Dalish, in my opinion.

is the peace conference still the start setting?  If it is, then harder to see a Dalish showing up.  Also harder to see a Qunari, but I guess we'll find out in due course.

It's been said that you can play a dalish mage. Whether that means all Elfquisitors are Dalish I don't know.

I'd prefer City, personally.

On one of the panels when someone asked the question that we could play as a "Dalish Mage" the answer was yes, which has lead to people speculating that being a dalish is elven mage exclusive and warrior/rogue elves are city born.

I want to play as a Dalish rogue first (same as my first Warden). When I get to my second elf, I'll go with Dalish mage. Maybe Dalish warrior for my third. After those three, I'll start doing city elves.

We have heard that Mages will tend to have different backgrounds than the rest of their race (though we've heard little about the Qunari one way or the other). I'm personally fond of the idea of the Elf Mage being a Dalish Keeper/First and the Elf Rogue/Warrior being from the Alienage. I'm hoping that we learn a bit more about backgrounds soon, particularly because they are story information that are virtually spoiler free (you'll see them all before you even start playing the game).

Can't I have an option for both? Say my elven mage is a Dalish Keeper or First, and the Warrior/Rogue is a city elf who grew up in orlais?

City elf, I guess (maybe because city elf was my favorite origin in DAO)

I'm up for the elven Mage being dalish, and the rogue/warrior being city elf.
Just hoping to see more plant based spells, and looking forward to using stone spells again!

I was going to ditch Dalish all together since my main playthrough in DA:O was a Dalish archer, until I learned there would be the option to play a Dalish mage. That sounds too interesting to ignore. That and a possible Qunari mage, imagine the possibilities!

Chantry fanatic: "It's a pagan! Burn them!"
Templar fanatic: "It's a mage! Burn them!"
Mage fanatic: "You're a mage, but you tree-hugging hippies don't understand our plight! Burn them!"
Bigoted human: "It's an elf! Opress them!"
Bigoted City Elf: "You're an Elf, but you're one of those snobbish Dalish! Kick them out!"
Bigoted Dalish Elf: "Peace with the shemlen? You're a traitor to our people! Kill them!"
Qunari: "No."

Yes, I want my characters to feel miserable. That makes victory sweeter xD
