Nicolina Shepard

Gender: Female
Class: Infiltrator
Background: Spacer/Sole Survivor
Personality: Paragade: Mainly paragon but typically renegade when friends, family, alliance or crew threatened. Prefers to intimidate over charm for armed enemies. Helps people in need, more likely to kill those that attack or are likely to attack. Starts out mostly kind to the council, over time grows frustrated with them and gets more and more snarky. Saves them though because she believes that there should be an experienced group of leaders that people are used to to help recover from Saren's attack but starts to regret that decision by the time she returns to Earth for the final battle. Uses tough love on Conrad and shoves a gun in his face to show him he's not cut out for that life. She has a soft spot for reporters and politely answers her loaded questions to show her the error of her reporting methods while resisting the urge to knock her on her rear.

Did you do the Citadel party with this team? That would seem very... quiet.

I think I'm going to try this for my next play through, see if I have the stomach to do it.

That's what bothered me about that DLC. It's unavoidable but it almost feels like the game is punishing you for killing off people. It was one of two times that I felt a void without Wrex; the other being Tuchanka in ME2.

And it's nice to see this thread come back to life. Surely there are newcomers who can share their stories. The thing is once I made what I consider my canon Shepard I haven't made another. The game is still fun but I just don't feel I could do better. Has this been the case for anyone else?

Well..

(NOTE: The colors are my opinion)

From Ashes is Green/Red themed. It gives you a companion, but it's up to you to use him.

Leviathan is Blue/Green(?)(/Cyan) themed. It lets you get some extra banter with squadmates, some recognition of romances. It's more about exploration.

Omega is Blue/Red themed. It gives you defaulted squadmates, and it doesn't matter if you didn't have anyone else you wanted to bring. It's more about combat.

Citadel is Blue/Red/Green(/Cyan/Yellow/Magenta) themed. It first lets you get some extra banter with squadmatesduring a fun journey, then big recognition of romances, then an outright peaceful hangout with everyone. It's more about RP simulation.

I think it's appropriate that Citadel DLC has this aspect then.

Renegades get seemingly constant references to Destroy/killing Reapers.

Paragons get a fun journey with their friends, less dire stress.

Then both (but especially Paragons), drink up with everyone, no combat involved at that point. Pure Renegades do get less around, sure, but they'd still get some and maybe feel more attachment to a tighter group. Paragons get more, sure, but may feel they're crowding up the place (yes, I actually feel that sometimes myself really). It's only FAILSheps that just empty out the experience 0_0.

I dunno... I still haven't done an Adept or Sentinel Shepard yet. I pretty much covered everything outside of my "I've never" list with the four I already made, though, and I intend to never do most of what's left there (kill the Quarians, Synthesis, etc) so unless I come up with a story I really want to run through, I'll probably never get to them.

Sentinel is OK, but I prefer the Vanguard as far as hybrid classes go, otherwise I'd just go with the Adept.

I know Steelcan was big on Sentinel, but it just seemed too gimmicky to me. Vanguard was fun.

I always viewed the Sentinel as the ultimate hybrid class, as not only does he have Biotic and Tech abilities but Tech Armor lends itself to a play style that emphasizes weapons.

I found that stacking Tech Armor and Barrier was a particularly potent combination if you weren't concerned with cool downs, or used some of the lighter guns

I stack Tech Armor and Fortification for max damage resistance. Then either opt for a pure melee kill build primarily using Cryo Blast (because I like iceplosions) which has a short cool down anyway (~3 sec) or run a -200% full weapon loadout -- but run with a biotic team and the instant recharge evolution for throw.

Sentinel I think is the best class in ME3

My canon sentinel used warp ammo for his bonus power and ran with a Lancer and Wraith, they pack a hell of a punch and are pretty light

Now comes the part where we profess love for our canon class. Sentinels FTW!

I don't play so much as the classic, "support Sentinel." It's more like an all-purpose, "new wave" Soldier for me. Canonically, my Shepard starts as an Infiltrator (ME1 is the best time to be that class... some maps are truly wide-open), but is reconstructed with biotic talent during Project Lazarus (one of the very few good things about that plot event). In ME2, you can really tank with Assault Armor. In ME3, I go for durability evolutions in Tech Armor, Fitness (melee-synergy bonus), and Energy Drain (bonus power)... it's a real force in CQC.

I also find it more agreeable with the narrative. No issues like "Shepard should have 'Cloaked/'Charged in that cutscene!" for example. Or, the fact Jack is the most powerful human biotic, but Vanguard- and Adept!Shepard run circles around her and your asari squadmates in gameplay.

It's certainly the class that has changed the most, I mean it went from a no default weapon's ability class to one that's basically a soldier with biotic and tech abilities.

My MainShep is a Sentinel as well. I call her an "Assault Sentinel" because she fights like a Vanguard and wields a shotgun. So much fun.

Not for me. I don't even have one Shepard that I consider my "canon", just the one that I refer to as MainShep, and the history behind that is... complicated. Her story in the ME series has developed over the years to the point where three different Shepards evolved from the original character.

Background: Earth / Sole survivor

Keept the collector base (in that save) Doesn't seem to matter, but I didn't really trust TIM. However, getting a chance to recover additional intel at some point seemed worth it no matter how abominable that place might have been.

What did worry me was that TIM might try to complete that work on the human Reaper, but since that would have caused too much of a divergence to the story, that ofcourse didn't happen.

Lost Kaidan on Virmire, (I was playing an Adept in ME1 so I already had biotics), Thane died fighting KL.

Cured genophage, made peace between the Geth and Quarians, punched Gerrel HARD! (Really loved that last part, despite being paragon)

Picked Control, very high EMS due to having played multiplayer...

ShepAI fixes the relays and takes a step back watching out for civilisation ending troubles... No getting involved in petty crime or political bullshit.

There is room for plenty of new non-Shepard stories as long as you don't pull another one similar to the Reaper one! If you do then they need to be strong enough and prepared enough to quickly dispatch the Reaper guardians.. Leaving ShepAI a lonely misserable thing on the Citadel trying to find a meaning to an almost infinate existance... Where you can no longer protect anyone, just sit there and watch.... and watch some more.

But, the galaxy was saved no matter what and you saved the maximum amount of people and allowed the current cycle evolve on it's own.

Sorry about the enslaved Reapers though, they might have deserved getting lockedup by Shepard tohugh, Shepard acting as the eternal jailer.

Soon I'll have my canonic male shepard, But I have to finish the game to feel the story complete. I've done 2 malesheps before (one paragon, one renegade), but somehow, I wasn't happy with them.

I've played all 6 classes and excluding ME1 where they all suck vanguard was my favorite. It was the most fun/badass; my canon Shepard is vanguard. Sentinel was probably the best but didn't give a rush like the vanguard. The tech armor in ME2 made my femshep look fat. Adepts have many powers but in ME3 it just came down to power 1 + power 2 = biotic combo. The powers didn't differ much. Adepts never got a game-changing power like some of the other classes (infiltrator, sentinel, vanguard). Singularity? For me it was a poor man's double pull. Something like stasis works well but that's a bonus power that any Shepard can get.

From the way Shepard comes across in the series I could only seen canon Shepard being a soldier or possibly a vanguard. It's just the impression I get from things like the cutscenes.

I don't actually have a single canon Shepard. I have made most choices that exist, some are more preferable over others, but nothing that is 100% absolute. I will think about this though, and get back to this thread.

I recently did a playthrough as a sniperless infiltrator with fortification as a bonus power. Cloak+sabotage+shotgun (with cryo ammo) is a very satisfying way to kill bad guys, especially all those Cerberus turrets.

Soldier.

Maybe Vanguard.

Kinda Infiltrator.

Engineer, Adept, Sentinel - these are all completely valid, but I don't think fit Shepard's core storyline and enforced identity (you're always a soldier for something, Alliance then Cerberus then Alliance, in whatever way) themes.

My hope is that the next game instead goes:

Adept or Engineer

Maybe Sentinel

Kinda Infiltrator or Vanguard

At least something like that.

Not so much Soldier, basically. We had his deal. Still spec as one, sure, but no longer the 'cover shooter pow pow heavy weapons' focus of design in gameplay, or the 'you have a duty, defeat this overwhelming singular force' in story.
