So I got to the final battle today, felt like I had everything ready and was prepared to tackle it, only to be severely disappointed when I tried to use a health poultice during one of the fights.  I discovered that, indeed, my stack of 99 lesser health poultices that I had been carrying around for half the game was gone.  Poof.  Not in the radial menu, not in my inventory, not anywhere.  My second stack of 30 something lesser poultices had also gone poof; I was left with just normal and greater poultices, which totalled up to about ~20, forcing me to either turn off my tactics where companions take a poultice when health is low, or risk not having any poultices for the Archdemon fight.  Neither option is very appealing.

Needless to say, I was and am quite pissed.  As of yet I had been able to make it through the game without encountering the game-breaking corrupted saves and Orzammar glitches, thanks to reading about them on this forum first, but to be hit by another significant glitch at the game's final quest is quite disheartening.

Obviously I am not entirely sure why the poultices disappeared, but I noticed that I could not access the second tab on my potions radial menu; the arrows to view more potions were and have always been greyed out, I've never been able to access a second ring of poultices.  Earlier in the game I didn't have enough potions for this to be significant, but I'd been saving up multiple grades of lyrium potions along with some lesser and greater spirit balms for this battle, and I assume those pushed my potion slots up high enough that some should have been carried over into a second ring.

Thus my theory is that, instead of letting me scroll to a second ring of potions in the radial menu when I have too many to display in the first ring, the game simply destroys potions when you have too many types to display in one ring.  Lesser health poultices I guess are considered the least important, would've been the first to go in a second ring on the radial menu, and were therefore the first to go.  So yeah, you might want to watch how many potions you are amassing.  I think there is a possibility that the glitch doesn't activate until you actually view the potions tab in the radial menu, maybe it could be avoided by using quick heal only.  Though at this point my poultices are gone and not coming back, and I can't get that much Elfroot again nor would I bother to take the time even if I could, so meh.

I've encountered other minor glitches throughout the game, most notably the glitch that prevents you from getting Leliana's personal quest, but I hadn't really gotten pissed at anything, until this.  I'm thinking I'm going to turn the difficulty down to casual, blast through the last quest just to see the epilogue, and then shelf this game until it is properly patched.  The fact that the game itself is so amazing is the only reason that I'm not going to sell it to Gamestop after completing it; I fully intended to do multiple playthroughs, it's just sad that now I will have to wait a while, probably at least a few months, before that can happen.

You sure your companions didn't just use then when you weren't looking? I'm not being a smartass, but that's happened to me on the PC.

EDIT: Also, have you checked your more recent saves? That might still have all the potions there? It's not ideal (and I don't know how the 360 handles saves) but if you can manually save then it might be better than nothing =/

There's auto saves and manual saves... having alot of manual saves can take alot of space though so depending on how much memory someone has on their 360 it can be very limiting

I've got plenty of manual saves, and I plan on going back to see exactly what happened.

I wondered about my companions using them, but I really don't think it's a possibility. I had my companions set to take weakest poultice at 25% hp; I had been carrying that block of 99 poultices around for about the latter 2/3 of game, while using potions from and replenishing a second smaller block, without ever needing to actually dip into the block of 99. I know for a fact they were in my inventory before I started doing the Landsmeet quests in Denerim, and considering I had gone through entire questlines without companions needing them in the past, I think it's very unlikely that my companions suddenly turned around and went through 100+ poultices in the Landsmeet quests.

Encountered the same error of disappearing health poultices - and many other items it seems, as my inventory is now about 20 slots emptier. Also during the Final Battle part of the game. Unlike you though, ALL of my health poultices of every type are gone I had at least 50 health poultices and 18 greater health poultices.. then one area transition later they're gone. :\\ So much for the money I spent loading up on them. Also all the poisons I had for my rogue have disappeared as well.

After some digging around this seems to be a problem a few people have had at different areas in the game, possibly related to a death and reload with the game not being aware of your actual poultice count for some reason. The only issue with this is that it seems to be permanent after it happens unless you load an earlier save.

I lost a bunch of lessor health poultices when I died during the Ozi quests mid-game.

Over in the PC Tech forum we've isolated an issue with potions and other items disappearing that seems to be related to ranger pet death.
