I played and loved ME and KOTOR, and so I jumped at my first opportunity to buy Bioware's new game.

Hubs had been on a JRPG kick and I was burnt out on teen angst and OTT weaponry. One day he showed up with DA and, having never heard of BioWare, I didn't expect much. As soon as I saw you could play as a woman I got interested and the first conversation he had with Alistair got me to start my own game. I never looked back.

DA led me to Mass Effect and SWTOR, and I've been working my way back though their catalog. I'm so sad I missed KOTOR all those years ago but I'm a certifiable ****, now, for good or ill. :D Their consistent ability to create universes filled with lore and peopled with characters I come to care about has me hooked. I may not love all their story choices but I'm a sucker for finding out "what's next".

I got a copy of KOTOR and a Xbox for Christmas in middle school, first time I ever stayed up all night. Been hooked on Bioware games ever since.

Believe it or not: the Dragon Age 2 demo got me interested. Then, when Origins went on sale, I bought it and fell in love.
Oh, and what keeps bringing me back? The story. The world.

It's an rpg that let me make a female protagonist and had some good reviews is what brought me to it in the first place. I enjoyed the game play, for the most part, and can make the protagonist female is what has kept me. Well that and they're not a whole lot of games out there that does the same.

Plus they haven't stuck me with an ending I would consider bitter. My recent experience with bitter endings has me a bit worried though and this isn't just due to bioware. Several of the games I purchased recently have had bitter endings and I'm pretty sick of it. Thinking about waiting for reviews just so I can ask if the ending is bitter or bitter sweet and if it is avoid the game entirely.

I knew Bioware from Neverwinter Nights, and there was this killer sale going on for these games called Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2...

Honestly? I saw something on TV about it having gay elf sex and I was like "Wtf ok I'm definitely reading about this game" >.< Then I got more interested and started liking the elf lore and the City elf origin and I was like "Ok I'm getting this" lol

I was on an excursion through TV Tropes and somehow ended up on DA's page. After some extensive reading, I thought, "This sounds cool," and bought the games.

I've been playing BioWare games since I was 9 back with Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast. I was waiting for Dragon Age since they first announced its development. Only (single-player RPG) game of theirs I haven't played is Jade Empire. One of these days I will rectify that.

KOTOR, Jade Empire, and ME1 led me to try out DA:O, and I loved it.

 Fantasy-genre, party-based RPG. And Bioware.

And a couple of kickass ladies in the Sacred Ashes trailer. :)

Actually, I only got into it because I heard Kate Mulgrew (Flemeth) did a voice in it - I'm a big fan of hers, so I picked up DA2 when it came out to check out her parts (missed the boat on DAO). It was my first RPG and BioWare game and I immediately fell in love with the world, the characters, everything. Eventually got DAO and then Mass Effect, and loved it all! So glad I picked up DA2 on a whim. :)

Kind of ashamed to admit that I have never played Baldur's Gate, so I may have to pick it up for the heck of it and go back in time.

Rpg with focus on story, lots of character interaction, not being forced to play the generic human white male as only option.
I've enjoyed all Bioware's previous games, have played all the games they've released and have been a fan since I started out with bg2 and nwn sometime around 2002 or so. Not playing da:o was never an option.

I was drawn to it because it was made by Bioware. Then I saw this trailer.

I saw one of the trailers on TV and happened to be at a game store the week it came out so decided it looked interesting and picked it up.

The more interesting part is that the first time I played it I only got kinda into it. I played it most of the way through, but then got stuck on broodmother (I did Orzammar last) and gave up. Several months later I picked the game off my shelf again, and I got completely hooked. Now I am completely obsessed with the game and all the interesting lore that goes with it.

I first got on to Bioware's work with Budar's Gate, then KOTOR....Since then I've been a dedicated fan of Bioware and have loved their work. Though admittedly I was also, or at the time, perhaps more of a fan of (the former) Lucas Arts, ever since Rebel Assault and Dark Forces...so I would always buy LEC games over even Bioware.  Then I just got really tired of LEC and wasn't happy with several of their releases for several years. (After Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy) So I returned by attention to Bioware, and found KOTOR I and II. (both of which I love to this day...specially II).

As for what drew me to Dragon Age in particular....Well, I'd heard and read stellar reviews for it...Loved the idea of a High Fantasy RPG....But sadly, looking back I didn't buy the CE (knowing what I know now I wish I had've--I'm speaking of course of Origins.)  I bought the standard versions of Origins and Awakenings as individual games off the shelf at Best Buy; and just 3 weeks later they released the Ultimate Ed. (I was kicking myself for days after)....But knowing what I know now, and how much I like Origins, II and the franchise as a whole I wish I bought the CE of Origins when it was released.

I definitely am going to continue that pattern and buy the CE for Inquisition as I did for 2.

The option to play as a female.
Character customisation.
Romance.
Difficult choices.
