When I saw Warden's Calling trailer back in 2009 I decided to give this universe a closer look.
Never looked back after that
And the rest they say.....is history ![]()

Honestly, I got DAO to distract me until Mass Effect 3 came out.
... The irony in hindsight is BAFFLING.
Honestly-----wanted to try it out first from psn then started playing as a city elf xD
got confused then met alistair xD funny thing my first impression of him was.....why is he a dick....lol idky i thought that but then as i progress through the game got to liking the warden story and then fell in love with alistair o-o
hehe i need to remember in my head what got me hook......i believe it was alistair and the story of the game and how you had choices and was able to romance...
lol i hope that makes sense?
What drew me to the Dragon Age series?
It's an RPG. It's made by BioWare. And, well... that's it. ![]()
I like RPGs (I try most of them that come out) and I like BioWare games. That was enough for me to check it out.

I bought Dragon Age Origins because it was on sale.
I didn't even know that it was a Bioware game.
I hate myself for that, but yeah I have loved Bioware since I played SWKOTOR back in 2004 on original xbox.
I bought it because I loved ME1 and ME2. I needed a new RPG and figured it would be good since it was made by Bioware. And I was right ![]()
The Sims: Medieval was coming out, and someone commented that if they wanted to play in medieval times, they would just play Dragon Age. That piqued my interest, and I looked up the game. Found out that it had a lot of storytelling, romances, choices that led to different consequences -- and not soon after, I was playing DA. I was obsessed with it (and also pretty bad at it). Spent hours trying to defeat the Broodmother. I got some of my friends into it, and then my friend got me into Mass Effect.
I've stuck around because there are no companies that draw me in like BioWare does. I love the character-oriented storylines and the lore. After DA2 I got into Mass Effect waaay more, but I think I'm coming back round to DA since Inquisition is going to come out soon-ish.
I'd gotten it for my husband when it had just come out, actually. Always been kind of a fantasy geek in my reading/viewing choices, but I'd never really played an RPG. Not sure why. Anyway, I proceeded to watch him roll what I still think may be the most socially impaired dwarf in Thedas, and it drove me nuts until I was finally like, "Screw it, I'm making my own character." Which turned into a whole bunch of characters and many, many hours.
The only bad thing about falling in love with the DA universe is that I can't find anything I like as well. Apparently the whole "making your own choices as you adventure through some kind of awesome amalgam of your favorite fantasy books and movies in which you engage in amusing banter, save the world AND get the guy/girl at the end, PLUS you get to play as a female" thing is unique to BioWare.
At least the run up to a new release is always fun. In an excruciating sort of way.

More like torture...fun torture with lots of speculation about whether Bioware's going to torment you with the pear chest hair of anguish or the iron maiden bull before saying you're free to mess around with all the devices.
I'ven been kurking the bsn forum since the NWN era.
Playing NWN and watching LotR made me easy prey, and willing to bite at a new FRPG title.
I got it as a present then put it on my shelf with a 'lol, never playing that'. Booted it up out of boredom about a year later and now I'm here.
I've been a BioWare fan ever since I played the amazing Baldur's Gate way back in 1998. I still have the box and CDs too. ![]()
Anyway, a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights was like a dream come true. After much anticipation I played (and loved) Dragon Age: Origins on the day it was released.
