Fair enough, but what keeps you invested in the series?

Edit: Wow, the way that came out last time was sounded worse than I thought!  I apologize for that.

Dwarves.

I honestly love Dwarves in pretty much every work.

S'funny you say that.  I feel the same way about Elves.

What's so cool about Elves? Dwarves have awesome underground cities, The Legion of the Dead, Oghren, Varric, and Fun Size Bonus.

Elves have.. City Elves and the LOLish.

Elves also have swan ships, trees that shine brighter than the sun and moon, and commune with Gods on a daily basis.  And they can shoot a fly out from its wings at 500 paces.

I'd take Galadriel, Ecthelion, or Feanor over a smelly dwarf like Gimli any day...

Hell, I'd even take that upstart Tauriel over Gimli.  Not Feanor, tho.

You do realize this makes us mortal enemies now?

Bring it, Evil!  I'll bet on the Noldor over Durin's Folk any day!

It's on then. We meet at dawn.

It(Origins) was basically a PC-style RPG on console. I loved the idea.

DA2 was nothing like that though.

Well, she certainly could beat Arwen's warrior-princess butt.

Underground Cities > Shiny Trees

Legion of the Dead > "Communing with the gods"

And despite their alleged marksmenship, they still manage to be servants.

Anyway, what originally drew me to Dragon Age?

I saw an advertisement at Gamestop and saw it was made by Bioware, and that was enough for me at that moment. What keeps me here? I love the lore, the growing conflicts, the debates her on the forums, even when said debates drive me nuts, the story, and the characters. (Merrill!!!! and Morrigan!!!!)

You're pitting those losers against a legion of Elves led by Elrond, Gil-Galad, and Galadriel?

This is based upon a PM question I got a couple of days ago. Also, what keeps you coming back?

In one word? BioWare.

These 'losers' fought through the Goblin tunnels, the orcs on the river while in barrels and without weapons or armor, a dragon. Those guys are out of practice and are just hanging out frolicking in the trees.

Dwarves don't frolick.

NWN, KotOR,JE is what brought me to Dragon Age and I loved it. Mr. Gaider's writing keeps me coming back and Mr Weekes joining the team is just icing on the cake.

Excuse me.  Those moronic losers didn't do sh*t.  They had a fat Hobbit doing all the hard work, and saving their ungrateful asses repeatedly, to boot.  I wouldn't trust a one of 'em to find his ass with both hands and a map.

That's the book, not the movies.

The TV commercials for DAO are what initially piqued my interest. This was also coming off of a very disappointing experience with Neverwinter Nights 2, that game having not met my expectations at all. The first time I played DAO I felt that it had what was missing from NWN2 and I was very happy.

I keep returning to the series because I really enjoy the world; I appreciate that it's a bit different from other fantasy environments. I also really like the writing and the characters that the writers have been able to craft, good and bad, likable and unlikable.

Come now. Since when did movie adaptations overrule books?

Company loyalty at the time, I enjoyed ME1/NWN/KOTOR/BG2. I hadn't played Shattered Steel at the time.
