I followed development closely from the day they announced it in 2004. I wanted a new PC RPG from BioWare.
What drew you to the Dragon Age series?

Definitely for me it was the origin stories. There were/are a lot of fantasy RPGs out there and I try to look into them all, but most of them have little to make them stand out. The prospect of having that much agency over who my character was made the game really appealing, and I ended up enjoying the stories (and the game itself) even more than I thought I would.

KotOR. I hadn't really followed the develop of Origins too closely, but I've enjoyed BioWare RPGs ever since KotOR.

I remember I was in GameStop on eday and I was looking for a new game and I was intrigued by the description on the back of the case. The only RPGs I had played up until that point had been table top paper and dice and the occasional FF (FF VII is my favorite of the franchise), and the opening cut scene blew me away. I loved the nation of Ferelden and the continent of Thedas, all the different ways your companions and other NPCs related to you based on your choices and background, how alive the world felt, basically I loved everything about the game. I have since become a huge fan of Bioware (a bit of a Johnny come lately I know) and am currently waiting with steadily decreasing patience for it to be fall so I can start playing DAI

I'd heard about DAI and watched the PAX demo, which was effing awesome. I searched YouTube for more and found Lady Insanity's channel. After watching her DA2 playthrough, I played the demo. I figured I should play DAO and DA2 before DAI, and here we are.

I like the character customization, the party based gameplay, and squad interaction that is present in bioware games. I also love the fantasy setting so if you take a bioware game and put it in a fantasy setting than yeah I am going to play it.

I've been a fan of Bioware games since KOTOR. Their games are always a lot of fun, and while they don't always live up to the super-high expectations that their past awesomeness inspires, even the weakest of their games are enjoyable enough to warrant multiple playthroughs. So naturally when DA was announced it was a game I was interested in, and enjoyed tremendously. It's a game I still play from time to time, as is DA2. I expect DAI to be the best game yet in the series, and maybe Bioware's best game of all time. A tall order indeed, but from what we've seen so far, they're definitely doing all the right things to make that a reality.

Bought Origins at the suggestion of a good friend who shares the same taste for RPGs as I do. As expected, I wasn't disappointed. Origins was an awesome piece of video game and still is in my all time top 3 of RPGs. The affection for it was so strong, I even bought both books, something I never did before (buying video game related books); and it became my favourite RPG universe.
Then, DA II shipped and I blindly pre-ordered the Signature Edition, a big mistake. The afore mentionend friend warned me about it because our favourite gaming site rated it mediocre, but I didn't took it seriously. DA II was a huge disappointment. The worst RPG protagonist ever, boring environments, nearly zero RPG-elements (that "crafting", locked follower equipment, etc.) and horrible combat speed&animation. Only some companions were a gleam of hope in this mess.
It didn't deserve "Dragon Age" in the title.
So what brings me back here are clearly the memories of Origins and the kudos BioWare earned with this game. But I'm watching the development of DA:I this time at a big distance and will wait till numerous reviews come up, "professionals" and player ones.

Well a bit more than 10 years ago ,I had a boyfriend who was really into Bioware and RPGs.
He played Baldur's Gate , Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire...
He was always talking about those games like they were the best thing ever , and annoyed me a great deal talking about his "Viconya" with dreamy eyes.
I really liked the idea of RPG , so I've tried playing pen and papers RPG ( It didn't go very far , because there were tons of rules , and for something relying mostly on imagination I thought this was stupid , and got quickly frustrated.)I tried playing BG 1 and 2 , morrowind , neverwinter nights and numerous other stuff , but it just didn't work for me.I somehow always ended up in the middle of nowhere , surrounded by awful monsters , completlety lost and not understanding half of what was supposed to be going on.
The most fun I ever had was playing Morrowind completly drunk , when I sobered up the next day the fun was gone.
Anyway I've spend years looking for a Rpg I could enjoy , and one day I was bored and went on the net and read reviews about a new game called Dragon Age Origin.
I remember reading about romances and I was thrilled , I went all I'm going to have my Viconya too now , mouhahaha!
The first playthrough was a bit painful to be honest , but I liked it enough to play it again and got hooked.

The one thing I think that's interesting is that the Viconia romance can actually change her.
If your character is good, Viconia the drow will at least meet you halfway and eventually change from evil to neutral if you romance her. (Of course, this is as I've said earlier not easy to do, you have to make some right choices.)
BTW, it's not just a cosmetic change; when her alignment changes, so does some of her dialogue and attitude.
Romance may be fluff for some, just pointing out how it can play a semi-role in the game, if developers choose to use it that way.

First I tried the Mage Origin on my little bro's PC. Then I went straight to a videogame shop and bought DA:O.

The toolset with the original DA:O. Found it disappointing that it wasn't in DA:2, but now I am starting to come to terms with the fact that it won't be in DA:I. I just hope there's the ability for config editing, extensive save game editing (such as in the past games) and override folders. If not, w/e, still going to love this game anyways.
