BW left alot of exciting points off which I'd like to discuss. the period after the first contact war and humanity entering the galactic community.
I could only imagine the council's peace delegation who approached humanity during the 1st contact war.
who where part of the peace delegation was it the salarians, asari or turians?
how did humanity react to knowing their was a larger community?
did the peace delegation speak at the UN? <- the reaction in humans faces wanting to see.
who was the 1st species of council to step foot on earth? <- would have been a godly seen.
how did they find the humans appearance,atitude,behaviors,etc.etc?

I'm guessing if it was ever fleshed out it would have been Asari to have played the diplomat. They're the "face" characters of the council.

Who cares, read the books. If BW plots the next ME around the Contact War I'll be servilely disappointed. The time between the contact war and the reapers isn't that long. And we know what happens.

They might have used the UN, but I think they talked to the Alliance, the Alliance was the face of humanity back in those days. It had already been established and the first contact war increased their prominence sicne they were the ones that sucessfully evicted the Turians from Shanxi.
If the Asari wanted to talk to someone then it would be the people of the alliance and the alliance parliament. All other governmental institutions would have been an afterthought and a courtesy extended afterwards.

The peace delegation was almost certainly Asari. They are portrayed as being the most diplomatic of the Council races whereas the Turians are the most militaristic, and the Salarians area of expertise is spycraft.
