I agree that they are incomparable, as they are two different type of games. However, the comparison was made due to the fact that both franchises were taken over by a new studio during uncertain times. That is all.

Also, Halo's "lore" is certainly on par with Mass Effect's. However, it's story and narrative is not reflected on-screen as well as Mass Effect's.

Well that may well be, but ive judged it based on the games. I havent read any of the books really. Maybe the books are good, ive heard some have been excellent like the Nylunds Fall of Reach. But then again we have one written by Dietz, i dont know how good that is but judging from his work in "deception" im not too positive.

Still storywise the game should be able to stand alone apart from the peripheral material around it. ME accomplishes this, tough disjointly. Halo doesnt as well, not IMO.

I disliked the DLCs for ME3 as well as the plot of ME3.

1. Leviathan's plot pushes you to pick synthesis( which is the worst ending choice because it makes zero sense) in order to stop the Leviathans from taking over all organics.

2. ME3's last DLC has you fighting your own clone and the ending to that DLC is a pure copy and paste ending of The Mummy Returns....it is just sad!

3. Omega is just over priced and adds nothing to anything important other then more combat/action.

None of the DLC's 'push' you to pick anything. They have themes (which go all over the place), information (which often actually trends towards Control, and maybe Synth), and stuff like character feedback (most henchmen are clearly for Destroy, yet have details about their journeys that may deviate away from that), but it's all left ambiguous enough that you'll still have to make your own decision about what it is and what it's trying to say to you.

You know, like a painting.

The leviathans can take down reaper with no problem so the only choice that saves organics is synthesis and I hate synthesis with a passion.

Honestly, I would be more concerned if the game involves any of the established characters, for I think that was one of the biggest issues my friends had with Halo 4 was that it didn't feel right. Its why I am glad they have announced that Mass Effect 3 was the end of Shepard's story for now they aren't going to have to try and duplicate someone else's work and can work on establishing their own story.

As far as the concerns about Omega, I understand, but at the same time I am not going to judge and entire game based on a two hour DLC that really didn't have much room to properly develop into a full story like a 40 hour game, for who knows they might not have had a proper writing staff or other elements to give it a better story.

I think you need to take a good look at the ending, the DLC, and the series again. Synthesis solves nothing. It's only a step towards that.

if anything the dlcs give you pros and cons for all choices.

hey guess what, all choices involve reaper tech being allowed to exist.

Synthesis is just a huge organic synthetic love in, overseen by our new reaper overlords.
Control is the birth of a human shep-reaper and obliteration of the human race.
destroy seems to solve the problem, unitl you see us reconstructing the citadel and mass relays.

the Citadel+Mass relays = Starjar. And....we're back to square one.

Yes, but he's not the Lead Writer.  Now he's the "Narrative Director" .  I have no idea what that means.

It means he has more creative control.

I disagree very strongly.

I'm going to bed so I won't line it all out, but I disagree with your opinion of Omega, I thought it was a fine DLC, had fine characters [both Aria and Nureen (?)], and had a fine plot.

Amusingly, you claim it's disjointed yet feels like it's cut. Those are two opposite positions. Something feels like it's cut because it aligns with what's already there. It feels disjointed because it's NOT like what's already there.

Your claims don't convince me, at all.

Worst DLC, it makes me worried about the next game.

i did not play it as i heard its very shooteresque. If that´s what you mean about the forward style of ME games then i agree.

I really rather they add more RPG elements, more exploration, more of an open universe, way less linear. I dont mind shooters but i want variety.

Can't say. MP was better than expected and Omega wasn't awful. I was actually pretty pleased with how Omega handled story telling, choices (compared to other DLC) and the squadmates. The combat was great, as was the level design. It was just too pricey. Sure...there were a few clumsy things and it felt a bit weird to me that your squad wasn't included at all in Omega (I think we can't blame the writers here), but I guess at this point I welcome fresh eyes to the franchise.

Omega did a some things right, with Aria being reactive to what Shepard says, combat felt more refreshing instead of the horde-style the original game contains.

For me, it was the best DLC, and makes me very hopeful about the next games combat.

Mass Effect has been a shooterfest for a while now, it's the direction that the series is going in.

I like shooting a lot, and ME 1 e 2 gave us a lot of that, ME3 gave us the best shooting but thats it.
Omega: just shooting, weak plot, plus Shepard had nothing to do there besides take orders and kill everything that moves, thats not why I play RPGs.

One thing I always missed was basic attributes, it would be great to have it:

Str: mellee damage, carry capacity, weapon stability and prerequisite to bigger guns (widow, claymore)
Dex: aim (guns, tech/biotic powers), speed and dodge.
Con: hp, resistance, barriers and base for biotic powers damage and duration.
Int: hacking, omni tool handling, shields, drone control and base for tech powers damage and duration.
Per: aim again and awereness.
Cha: influence and prerequisite to paragon/renegade interruptions.

Armor: Power amor that gives bonus to str, dex, DR, shields.

While I agree somewhat, I don't ME to become another fallout either. Still, I wouldn't mind if Bioware included some kind of attributes system in the next game, and if they dropped the P/R system for a reputation system like they did in Fallout NV. If they insisted on a morality system, have it be separate as well. Perhaps your morality would effect how certain NPCs or Crewmates would interact with you. I don't want it affecting my dialogue choices however, that's when a "speech" or "charisma" attribute would be for.

Omega's plot wasn't much worse than the main game, actually I think it was better if one considers story and plot to be two separate concepts. The story was simple but because of that it avoided the huge inconsistencies, plot holes, and other missteps that litter the main game. Petrovsky is the best antagonist in the entirety of ME3 as he actually has some character other than being an Indoctrinated mook or a flying space laser. And the DLC plays out at a nice comfortable pace.

Couple this with Omega's brilliant level design and refreshing game play, and you get a DLC that is everything players didn't get in the main game. I personally look forward to Omega every single play through. Sure, it's a disappointment that Omega doesn't become a new hub and the DLC has zero impact on ME3. But if ME4 at least has the same quality of design put into it's levels and gameplay it should be at least a fine game in it's own right.

Gameplay is all that matter's to me, if all I cared about was plot I would never have made it past the first 30 minutes of ME2. It's also why ME1 is now unplayable for me. the combat has aged really badly. Omega for me is the best DLC in the series because instead of trying to focus on some clever plot which fails in multiple area's like so much in this series, it focused on gameplay, gameplay and more gameplay, the one thing the game doesn't mess up. Except for the A button doing everything <_<

This right here, listen to this man/woman. Omega is simple, but effecttive.

About Omega, it was already foreshadowing when you met Aria at the Citadel. There was bound to be more to it than talking' about reclaiming Omega. Although the comic of Aria losing Omega was pretty short, I kinda saw it coming. Nonetheless, Omega was fine DLC, not the best, but it was thrilling and sometimes a bit eerie and dark with the occasion of game immersion breaking glitches. If you were someone who wanted stronger weapons, weapon mods, more story, and etc., Omega would be a great DLC. It is somewhat longer than other DLCs.
