That is true, though I do believe based on the amount of perception players tend to have, they won't really give that much thought. Many players do not pay that much attention to detail, it is why game companies cut corners on some things, because the vast majority just will not pay attention to it, so it is not always worth it.

I suppose the ideal would be a bunch of twigs, but presumably that's very hard to model?

I am sure it could be done minimally, but my offer was merely to throw forth a pre-existing model. If it is not up to par, then alright, I will be on my merry way. I am afraid I will not be actively doing anything for this challenge, beyond what I have considered.

It could always be an elven/dwarven gothic broom... ;)

Hey, do the broom! I think it looks great, myself. I have no problems imagining a broom like that, in a setting where someone can FLY ON THE THING!!! ;)

There was a time, also, when crafting objects was an art. Artisans made things the hard way, for people who could pay. Sure, the peasant bound straw to a stick to sweep out their dirt floor. But a wealthy merchant with flagstones could afford a 'better' broom.

Anyhow, don't sweat it. Different tastes are a strength, not a weakness. I'd use that broom. This is the sort of thing the CCC should be about, in my opinion.

Nice... love the colour. Is it keyed to Cloth 1? I'm thinking black, too...

How about a witch dress, with a ragged hem? Or the classic Morticia Addams version, where the skirts trails on the floor?

If ia.Pepper sends me the model, I'll rig it for flying.

I'll like to keep the CEP variant, too, as it's one of two archetypes that crops up regularly on Google Images (the other being the twiggy one). I'd still welcome help with the texture, but if no one has the bandwidth, I'll publish and be damned.

Cloth 1, Cloth 2 for the underskirt, and Metal 1 for studs and other embellishments yep. :D Also goes pretty well with non-gothy colours. Very "Belle" in gold.
Ragged witch-dress, eh? I can do that. Best get one version completely done first though, including the male variant - even if next to nobody is going to want to put their dragon-slaying adventurer men into shiny dresses, consistency demands that the option be there.
The model of the Robe-skirt still needs work - there's something a little off about the lighting, the right foot clips through it in places when running, and I'm pretty sure it's more complex than it needs to be (but I pretty much have no idea whatsoever what I'm doing with this so I may be talking nonsense). Not sure I have the modeling skillz to set up a flared skirt to look decent animated, yet. One day I shall, and there shall be flared skirts... but that day is probably not going to be within this month. :(

::inspects teeth::
::nods solemnly:: You should get a nice ski mask to cover that up. Think of the children!

I had a bit of luck. I was able to rip the texture map from the CCP Giant Broomstick and glue it onto the CEP Broomstick. Before and after:

If people think that's acceptable, I'll update my submission. I'm also working on ia.Pepper's model, with a view to publishing both.

... convincing strangers of your harmless- and trustworthiness by virtue of a brilliant and engaging smile? Charming the in-laws? Reassuring small children? Picking flowers? Picking flowers is something people do with their teeth, right? D:

@Proleric1
This sort of ragged gown? Or some other kind? Halp, I am not sure that I know how to witch.

... the butt-highlight of this texture is too low. I will go fix that now.

Now that's really interesting; could spawn a whole range of ragged / rotting clothes for witches and undead! Is it possible to see through to the legs, or else suggest a void / distressed undergarment?

To tell the truth, I was thinking of a zig-zag ragged hem, but I'm struggling to find a good reference image. Given your earlier comments about technical difficulty, forget that one.

Maybe refer to Google Images for some other witch archetypes? Or continue with the elegance of your first dress, for vampires, masked balls, etc?

A lover of the classics, I see. o-Ô Very well. It is a custom content challenge, not a custom content sit-in-the-warmth-and-safety-of-your-comfort-zone.

The technical issues - aside from the inventory icons giving me grief - have actually been resolved by now. Lighting's fine, foot doesn't clip, male version of the robeskirts are working, animations look fine. The skirt model could stand optimization, but then again, it's still less complex than the original bioware robes by virtue of just being a skirt rather than a full robe, and I'm mildly terrified of breaking something if I start messing about making it more compact. :x I... have no idea what I am doing.

So! Something like this
Posted Image
, then? :D With moar refinement and shapeliness, o'course... and no clipping through the shin.

You'd have to make a completely new phenotype

Its possible, mind. Just a bit on the difficult side

Only robes require modification - see Bioware models for phenotype 3.

As my video demonstrates, the part of the mounted robe which is normally hidden by the horse becomes visible when riding a broomstick. However, personally, I think this is good enough; we just have to imagine that the fabric is draped over the stick, rather than penetrated by it.

Side-saddle would be nice, of course, but that would be a different ballgame, requiring animation skills and a new phenotype. The normal mounted pose is, admittedly, a bit odd with a broomstick, but I can live with it.

::level-up noise::

I'm just going to make use of willing suspension of disbelief in regards to the skirtclipping for now. Sidesaddle phenotype may be a project to tackle at another time, if ever.

This creature is not an override of the original NWN vampire. Because there is also an elaborate override for that in the vault. I have called it: Vampire noble, because it looks aristocratic.

This creature uses animations from the fencing phenotype, from "Alternate Combat Animations" by Ragnarok Mr4. Because I have considered it more elegant and suitable for him; as the fencing phenotype, it don't looks well with shields.

If I don't become too lazy, I'll add a female counterpart....

"Do you think, vampires are evil, because they feeds from mortals, Is a hawk evil when it feeds from a mouse? Vampires are over good and evil, as they are over life and death."
