I was trying to find a certain GIF which summarized my impression of the Typhoon. I came across this instead. Enjoy.

Funny thing is, the Typhoon is bettter on squad mates than on Shepard.

Ashley will destroy an Atlas faster than you can take cover if she has the Typhoon.

Ya, ME3 is a lot like Skyrim in that you can make Shepard and friends very powerful (and in my opinion unfun), hell, SentinelShep can literally become invincible. That's why I don't use the N7 weapons, Explosive Burst for Incendiary Ammo, or Nova.

I'm replaying ME3 right now.

Javik and Garrus took down the Atlases on Sur'Kesh and Tuchanka in less than 3 seconds. Kaidan was also really good against Cerberus on Mars. So far I haven't died once during this playthrough.

O.o

Maybe so, but I always give her the Black Widow and give James the typhoon while my femshep sticks with her Mattlock

Why is it DLC weapons are often so OP? I don't see the attraction of paying to make the game a cakewalk.

I played a mission with Garrus spec'd for assault rifle and James for health. Gave them both typhoons and just sat behind a rock most of the time dodging the occasional grenade. It was hilarious though.

The typhoon stays in the armory now.

It's the same thing they did in ME2,  they made the vanilla weapons weak to make you want to buy DLC.<_<

That's kind of the opposite of my point. Bio games are easy enough as it is without DLC. How is making them easier an incentive?

The vanilla campaign can get overpowered pretty easily anyways.

For instance, if you equip every damage-boosting armor and opt for AP ammo with all the damage evolutions, you can easily blast through pretty much every fight on insanity without ever making use of your powers. Even the Avenger/Predator become viable options against sub-bosses. In fact, I'm pretty sure engineers (thanks to overload) can out-pace (in kills per second) soldiers with that setup.

I didn't mind playing on insanity once in a while when I actually wanted to use some effort to get through the game. With the DLC weapons, I find it completely necessary to play on Insanity at all times. Otherwise it'd be waaaay too easy.

Most of the DLC items aren't too bad, but the Typhoon is crazy.  It seems that the final item releases are where it gets to the overpowered point, also to reward the people that are still playing since most people are done with a game by then.

Yeah, that might have been a good thought to post in this thread, which is not even half way down page-1 at the moment.
