When did Gaider say Alistair never really loved a female warden?
I never got the impression he never loved her, in fact in DA2 warden Alistair calls her the love of his life.

Wait, the game isn't out how do we know he hasn't gotten married?
I'd be cool if your romancing warden died horribly, and you didn't force him to marry Anora.
I don't think they're going to do it though.

It was during one of the comic con panels a few years back. Pax Prime, east or San Diego Comic con. Might have been one that happened overseas from the US. There was some discussion of this on the old board. It was before DA2 was released I think. Gaider did say that Alistair never loved any female warden. Nobody knows for certain if he was serious or joking.
There used to be a youtube vid of the panel where he said this. I don't have a link for this.

I really hope he was joking cause if he wasn't...awww that would suck.
Yeah I am almost certain he would have been joking, there's too many indications in the game that point to him loving her.
I don't know wiccame. It was really hard to tell when I watched the panel discussion on youtube if he was serious or not.
Yeah it does suck if he was serious.
The first few times I played and had Alistair as my love interest, yeah it seems that way. But when playing Awakenings those few responses you say to him are weird. The more I play and right after the landsmeet happens he has a whole attitude adjustment toward his love interest. When he dumps you it is a dump. Before the patches, it used to be when he dumped you his approval would still say love, this was changed with the patches.
Some places during the final battle scenes I used to get a response from him if you click on him he would still call you his love even if he dumped you. With the patches this also does not happen anymore. For some reason my video card ignored his dumping and he still called me love.
These are just my observations.
I always meant to play Origins and not romance anyone. I've still not done that.

He was definitely joking.
I hope your right King Cousland!
One the one hand that would suck, on the other hand I find it hilarious since my warden got him into a threesome, made him king (Tabrises don't give up on that political connection, that's just dumb. Protect the alienage), made him marry someone not her (even if she stayed on anyways), AND impregnate someone he found intensely annoying. After all that, it's kind of understandable.

I did have some games with Alistair and warden romances. DA2 he claims she is the love of his life. In awakening he is in love with her as well. He is in love if it is his wife or mistress.
David may have been talking about the comics.

I don't know, I love the.....'I married an indestructible goddess, I'm such a lucky man' line.
His dumping you after the landsmeet was bad and his excuse was a bit lame considering how it could turn out of you're a Coulsand. But I saw that more as him trying to do what's right and unfortunately he saw that giving up his love was him doing what was right. But he can be very easily convinced otherwise, if he didn't love her than I don't think he could be convinced.
He even calls my wardens that don't romance him, my love, so I think that's just a glitch regardless.
Gaider is a mean man for saying that. I can see how that would really ruin things with Alistair, because it puts you in a different mindset from the word go.
Woah guys, before demonizing Gaider, you should check your sources.

Who are all you people? Alistair was married to me!
Ekhidna - I read your link and it seems obvious to me what David Gaider was saying. Therefore Alistair and my warden lived well into their nineties, having sex and romantic interludes everyday, had six children and myriad grandchildren and died in their sleep.
Alistair is married! He married me! I earned it!
....Alright, I'm done.

PLEASE
There is not doubt in my mind that Alistair was absolutely in love with the Warden [if they romanced]. Not only was she his first, but I think it's safe to say she was also his first love as well.
pffft
He doesn't want to be married?
He says he either doesn't want a pretend wife...to a romanced warden. Or that he wants to be the one to chose who he marries...maybe he just hasn't found one he likes.
maybe it's because hes still in love with the warden that prevents him from finding a wife

Do we know the Warden is his first, though? Maybe he lies about it to make himself more adorable and more liked by women. ![]()
I just got exasperated with this thread, having to repeat that the question being asked was why Alistair hasn't gotten married specifically in playthroughs where he didn't marry FemWarden or Anora.
The Masked Empire, at least, answers why Celene didn't decide to follow up on her plan and marry him; after the Blight, the Ferelden people, feeling vulnerable and enduring the hardship of rebuilding their nation, would see any overture or meddling by Orlais as an invasion. Also, since her whole reason for wanting to marry Ferelden into the empire in the first place was to use it's military to bolster her own so to drive back Nevarra, and Ferelden's military strength is battered by civil war and the blight, it's a less appealing option all around.
As for why he hasn't married anyone else? Who knows. I'm sticking with the "Bioware doesn't want to waste time and resources introducing a new character who will exist in a very small percentage of playthroughs" explanation.

Have you met Alistair?
Have you met Alistair?
You mean the Alistair, the son of Maric? Maric, the man who was able to charm many women to love him, including an Orlesian Bard and an Elf who hates nobles? ![]()

That hardly matters when you're raised by someone else, but this would fall under the nature vs nurture battle ![]()
He was the opposite of charming lol.
