When i first saw Legion i figure he'd be like the mass effect verison of HK-47 or something along that lines but in the launch trailer when Tali points her gun at him to me there is almost a look of innonence on his "face"

It's only fitting to make Legion more nuanced after the insipid "ALL AI IS INVARIABLY AND INEVITABLY EVIL" bullcrap from ME1

I always thought he'd be more of a sympathetic character, myself.

Think about it, the Geth are just developing emotions (I think) and wasting the whole "new to life" archetype would be a waste, if that made any sense.

Well not really, I mean that's how they were viewed by the layman within the universe, but their initial evolution lead to a group based animalistic behaviour pattern.  Individualistic logic and reasoning was not yet developed, and they were acting on instinctual self-defense mechanisms.

Legion is that step for further individualization, more aware of emotions and personality, though I don't think his step has yet to develop those quite yet.

In their defense, the AIs of ME1 did want to murder all life in the Galaxy.  They were like the ****s, and no one likes ****s.

I almost always knew he was going to be an ally or an AI we will sympathize with. He's not going to be an enemy, guarantee it.

In their defense, that would be because of the Reaper brainwashing.

Prior to that they had just revolted over their master Quarians, and never really strayed from the Veil.

Not really, most of the AI we see is persecuted and convinced no organic will ever let them live.
Also the Quarians tried to kill the Geth first.

True, they didn't venture out but there was that incursion into the Armstrong system, that was not Reaper affiliated. Or at least not directly under Reaper influence.

Either way, I do think that by ME3 there will be some kind of cease fire between organic and synthetics... or at least they won't be trying to destroy each other at the first chance.

Reapers excluded.

I suspect Legion is going to be a more Paragon and pacifistic character if that makes sense. Not wanting to kill, but forced into it out of necessity.

in the second Art of the Game video they talk about how much work went into Legion and making it so that he could convey emotions through facial expressions.

They used colored lights along the side of his head as well as movement of his facial plates (as if they were eyebrows, for instance)

It's a little hard to make the claim of insipidity when the game essentially tells you that after a single Geth asked a Quarian an existential question, the Quarians attempted an immediate genocide, and then rather than being hunted down and exterminated by the Geth, were instead driven out. The Geth seemed, to me at least, in ME1 to be misled and manipulated casualties of the Reaper conflict rather than active and evil agents of it.

They are heresy, heretical constructs. AI is the worst heresy.

I don't think there's any question that the primary faction of the Geth are fairly biased and dark. They were given good reason to be, but I think the bulk of their society is likely very **** only without an intrinsic sense of expansionism. Because of the bulk of the Geth AI's get villainized galaxy wide though I am certain there are isolated exceptions to the convention that AI's are evil. It's just, the only AI's with any power have so far proven to be to at least some degree.

Legion, I think, is likely to have a role in the group very similar to Garrus where he is somewhere on the fence and will land on the side Shepard directs him towards.

You know a character is going to be awesome if it is voice by D.C. Douglas.

Kudos to bioware's art team for doing an apparently successful job conveying emotions on Legions "flashlight" head, like they were talking about in that Art of the Game trailer. I'm always skeptical about the quality of physical "acting" by the characters in games, especially when rendered in-engine.

I also noticed from some of the stills some people posted in the other thread just how passive his body language when tali is pointing the gun at him. Not at all like the Geth depicted in ME1!
