Strange question. They were all intended for different types of players (or characters, if you will). At least, that's what the writers set out to do.
What can I say? I'm a complex individual and I can see the appeal in different types of girl's.

The girls like Miranda appeal to me, whereas ladies like Tali are, to be blunt, pathetic and not worthy of me.
Granted, it's hard to say who would like who.
I'm the guy that goes for the more career/achievement/goal oriented women, who aren't afraid to put a relationship second in their life. Too many people think the meaning of life is to find love. That's a benefit or positive aspect more than an end entirely in itself if you ask me. A great one, and one that I think is necessary, but ultimately, you don't need love to live a great life.

My girlfriend... heheheh... in the game? Well, I'm not a fan of any of the romances, but I usually go with Ashley. She's the closest choice to a real life type of romance.
I know too many girls like Ashley in real life. They're all ignorant, arrogant, homophobic bible-thumpers.
I would never call them a real life romance. But that's the brilliance of subjective nature.

Reading comprehension for the win:Seeing as how the forum for characters and love interests is closed for whatever reason, I thought I'd open this up.
This forum is now closed.
There is entirely too much fighting, rule breakage and petty bickering in the threads here. While we appreciate you like the characters the behavior of many people in this forum is against the rules and spirit we want on the BSN.
On-topic: Canon playthrough is Ashley-Miranda-Miranda. So...Miranda obviously. Though I'm trying to get through playthroughs with Liara and Tali as well as staying faithful to Ashley. Really all of them except Jack. Nothing against Jack, just not my thing.

As for reasons I prefere Liara and Samara's romance? I guess because I think from a storytelling perspective I appreciate the drama in ME2-maingame between Liara and Shepard, it is the dark second chapter so I think it suits for the hero to be at their lowest by them having seemingly lost their relationship with somebody they loved and cared for, and if you add the attempted romance with Samara, trying to move on with someone else and not have that work out either. It adds to the sense that Shepard is truly isolated and alone on some level. And having Shepard get something on with one of the vanilla ME2 romances betrays that sense of isolation that ME2 should have and thereby undermines the whole "dark second act".
Liara, for the same reasons. Their relationship had experienced its ups and downs, which makes the romance more meaningful imo.
I also like Kelly in ME2 (unfortunately, most of her ME3 content was cut). It was by far the most realistically written and believable romance in that game. She has consistent relationship build and flirting. Jack's citadel DLC content was brilliant (probably the best), but her ME2 romance was not my cup of tea. Samara and Thane didn't get the screen time they deserved in ME3, but their romance was still well done imo.

Yeah, mainly those three. Would like to have seen more of Kelly and Samara.

While most of the crew at some point recite the "it's an honor serving with you" line, Liara's respect and concern comes from the heart.
"We may not say it so plainly but we're proud to be here, Shepard. And proud of you."
"Thank you for everything." (she says this up to 4 times)
"I hope the galaxy proves itself worthy of the effort you're putting into saving it."
"We finally have other leaders on our side but none will take us as far as you can."
"You succeed at odds most would never even take on. It's no wonder everyone wants you on their side. But I know it wears on you."
"You're alive again. I've got everything I want."

Kaidan for my main fem Shep. He's kind, sweet, and supportive. They just seem perfect together in my opinion.

I get a similar feeling when playing ME2. You know how the game keeps emphasizing how the crew needs to be free of distractions before the final mission? For my Shepard that means resolving the situation with Liara. After LotSB Shepard feels ready for the mission. Even after that there's a void in not having Liara on the crew. It just feels off for me. It's strange how you can get these feelings when you become attached to your character. Your character influences you and you influence them.

For FemShep, however, she really kind of gets shafted or even forced down certain paths. Something about Kaidan just rubs me the wrong way, so in ME1 Femsheps only choice is Liara. Who basically stonewalls you in ME2. I have heard that the Garrus romance is good, but by the time the subject comes up in ME2, Garrus already feels like my older brother. All the other available romances in ME2 are also non-interesting. Ultimately my FemShep ends up with Samantha. Bioware seems to have difficulty writing male LIs that don't have deep seated character flaws and issues. Again, I've been told this isn't the case with Garrus, but again... he's my brother by the point the LI possibility is even introduced. Too bad they didn't make it at least a flirty relationship in ME1.

Exactly.
Since I'm a religious, family-centric, generally conservative person, I'm not too far from the cathegories you just listed, but reality is always a lot more complex and textured and less based on mean stereotypes and preconceptions.
So, you can take you guess. And I'm ok, I did not take it on me. So I did not take it as offence.

I disagree. Just like Shepard getting something going with one of the ME2-maingame romances, doing LOTSB before the suicide mission completely destroys the purpose of the Illium cameo and undermines any kind of emotion the picture scene has.
In short, if you do LOTSB before the suicide mission, then I think you are doing it wrong.
Just my opinion.

If you don't romance her, I think it works better before. Vasir's comment about Cerberus is a good moment for some soul searching, and deciding how friendly you want to be with them for the rest of the game. I think it coincides well around the time of Jack's loyalty mission, TIM's antics on the Collector mission, or doing Overlord around the same time.
Personally though, I think her comments on Illium (about giving your body to Cerberus) should suffice. It just kind of falls flat.. you don't get to be pissed off enough in that scene.
