because in ME2 she has done a complete u-turn and is all of sudden super anti cerberus and their pro-human agenda. Its actually a major character contradiction.

Please go and take Ashely to the Terra Firma rally in ME1 instead of spouting this nonesense.

Sorry but in my playthrough of ME1 she goes on about the aliens on the ship etc....she sounds just like Cerberus. So i was surprised to see her being an arse in ME2 when you meet her at the colony thats just been abducted. And then there´s Ashley making nasty anti Alien comments about my LI when i turned her down in favour of an alien....as asari to be precise.

Now kaiden is totally different in that he comes across way more "liberal" shall we say.

Like I said, take her to the Terra Firma rally in ME1 and you won't be surprised that she's anti-Cerberus in ME2. Just beacuse someone's not niavely pro-alien doesn't mean that they are an anti-alien extremist. Ashley is not Kai Leng.

Liberal? Whjat does that have to do with anything?.

You asking what liberal has to do with ME universe? Come on, the whole story arc is generally a liberal vs conservative type choices.

What? Which choices are these? Also, which form of conservatism are you referring to here? There is such a thing as Liberal Conservatism you know.

come on, there are loads of choices in the game which are based on the liberal vs conservative debate. On the whole a paragon is sort of limited to liberal choices over things, for instance destory Rachni, or give them another chance etc...

In any case my point was in ME1 Kaiden comes across as much more liberal than Ashley, who comes across as a hick.

Is this some American thing? Because it makes no sense to me. The American meaning of conservatism has little in common with how it's used elsewhere. What Americans call conservatism much of the world calls either liberalism or neoliberalism, which is why this whole liberal vs conservative thing of your's is very confusing for me.

What the hell is a hick anyway? Is that a redneck or something? If so I don't think Ashley wouldn't even apply, she's latino, don't rednecks hate latinos?

yes there are all sorts of sub classification re politcal persuasion but you are splitting hairs.

And all nations have rednecks, including latinos. Bing hick is not necessarily being american trailer trash.

Ashley is Latino? I never knew. I thought she was meant to be ambiguous (like many other humans). Maybe half white/black.

Yeah, her original writer said she was of hispanic descent. I thought it was obvious though, it's the reason why people call her Michelle Rodriguez in space.

Cool enough.

As for Latino hicks, I live in San Antonio, Texas. Lots of them around here.

edit: Funnily, Michelle Rodriguez is from here too.

Nothing, psychologically speaking.

Redneck specifically though is meant to be a racist term for white people.. how their necks/skin turn really red out in the sun, here in the South.

Racist in a similar manner to the word "******"?

Maybe not quite. Redneck has been re-appropriated by many whites, a sort of point of pride. It can be an endearing word in the right context.

In America, conservatism is pretty much following the rule of law and sticking to the American Constitution, with limited government interference. Liberalism tends to be more social welfare and such. Of course, listen to any media source and you'll get demonized versions of whichever part doesn't match that station's own bias. (MSNBC is a new outlet that constantly and consistently makes fun of conservatives, but is also known for going over the line with their insults, and pretty much ignoring liberals in Washington, wheras Fox News is a lot more critical in reverse, tends to be more conservative while imposing harsher criticisms of liberals.....so to speak.)

And hick's are pretty much a stereotype for Americans who live in the south (Alabama, Texas, Virginia and so on) or mid-west (Great Plains area of America.) It can be sort of degrading as it is an implication that "hick's" are not as educated, or as knowledgeable as other Americans for whatever reason.

Larry the Cable Guy would almost be considered a hick, to use an example.

These threads are fun.

I started with Ashley and it was okay until she was forcibly alienated from me in ME2; what I saw in ME3 didn't inspire me to return to her (I killed her in my most recent game, for daring to defend Udina).

My second attempt was with Liara because it started in ME1, and thanks to DLC the relationship could be continued in ME2. I was disappointed with her shift to Shadow Broker, however. In ME3 she continued being Shadow Broker then on top of that obsessed over the prothean we picked up. I felt like she didn't have time for Shepard anymore.

So finally I tried Tali, though it meant waiting until halfway through ME2. I wasn't disappointed, and she was fun in ME3 as well. Definitely my preferred love interest from now on.

I love the hamster too, of course. Meep!

Too bad for hamster lovers. Space hamster loves Jack. That's why you find him down in her old quarters. :D

The one and only LI for Shepard is space hamster. Nobody else cares for space hamster but everyone forgets space hamster knows how to use the Reegar and the Harrier better than Shepard ever could.
