Krogans!

While playing the krogan soldier yesterday, I wondered...

if you exclude inferno and lift grenades, which is better? The krogan soldier or krogan sentinel?

i would say sentinel because tech armour looks cooler. But what about you guys?

It wouldn't really matter. The only thing that would matter here is DR. I like both of them, but you can't really do much about their appearances.

Carnage > incinerate
Tech armor > fortification
the grenades are the tie breaker, and excluding them leaves both equal

Actually, Incinerate is a lot better! Carnage by itself is crap, you need a primer either by incendiary ammo or Inferno grenades. Incinerate by itself is good already.

Agreed.
Too much hassle with fortification activation/deactivation to play the soldier as a melee kit.
Incinerate has also a better cooldown, which allows you to carry heavy weapons like the Claymore (the only one that should be carried by a krogan sentinel) with tech armour on.

Agreed. But Claymore isn't that mandatory: a big boomstick can suffice. Personally, I use the Crusader (for long and short range) with HVB and omni blade. Slap Juggernaut Shield + strength enhancer as gears and it's gold viable. Graal Spike Thrower can also be good.

Remember though: if you're a krogan you have to headbutt your teammates between waves: it's what Krogans do, especially melee builds. Shame and scorn on those who don't headbutt back: they are fools, and should be eaten.

TC as in Tactical Cloak? Sadly we don't have it on Krogans... but I can't understand why: half ton of a Krogan battlemaster screaming "Surprise butt***" every time he strikes from the shadows...

Not at all. TC self deactivates and does not require constant toggling to maintain its benefits.

Not really, they are the opposite.
You must cloak to get the melee bonus, and after you cloak you can still use a power overriding its cooldown, then you use the melee.
With fortification you must deactivate it first, then wait 2-3 seconds depeding on your cooldown, then you can reactivate it and use a power.
Another different thing: if you have cloak, unless you make a mistake you'll never use a power without cloaking first (unless it's a grenade, of course), if you use carnage you must wait 3-5 seconds before you can deactivate fortification to get the bonus, and the whole thing becomes more annoying as you must time everything, and with the lack of some visual reminder that alerts you when 20 seconds of fortification boost are passed it is really a hassle, at least for me, as I like to spam carnage a lot.
The sentinel gets less melee bonus, but you activate it once and you're done for the rest of the match.

If your a soldier, you can improve shield recharge rate though.
And surly carnage is more krogan than incinerate?

And Grenades are more Krogan than both of them...
Imo, sentinel is better than soldier because exploding tech armor can be an emergency button, while fortification isn't.
Stun> shield recharge rate, imo.

After playing both for recently I'm tempted to say the Soldier fits in better with a team but my heart will always belong to my glorious pink Krogan Sentinel. :wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

Soldier for his shield regen, and Fortification refreshed melee is heavier hitting

Sentinel can look cool, though I prefer the option of not having tech armor on my character all the time

Incinerate has a faster cooldown than Carnage, primes longer and can put organics to panic, but Carnage looks menacing and powerful in graphic and icon, staggers many enemies and rips targets to shreds.

Carnage does more upfront damage and with the stronger Fortification melee the Solder has a slightly easier time entering Rage.

Sentinel can use heavier weapons, though the heavy geth rifle will slow him down, but Soldier thrives just as well with Venom, Talon and lolcolyte

Incinerate is a top tier power and Carnage is rubbish. You would have to remove incendiary ammo for this to become a proper question.

IMO, shield regeneration is only awesome when you max it out with Stronghold V and Shield Gear III.  Cyclonics and the Grenade gears or Jug Shields are much better for a krogan melee kit.

Its the rel between carnage and incendiary grenades that makes the Krosol so powerful.
So without grenades probably go with Krosent because incinerate and Tech armour

Krentinel (up to gold level) because you could take away both his grenades and incinerate a just clobber everything to death with the flying backhand... you *could* do the same with the Kroldier but you'd have to be a master of purging and priming fortification.

Fortification just works better with Grenades with that 30% power damage evo at tier 5 - so take the Inferno Grenades away from the Kroldier and he's more handicapped then the Krentinel is if you take away his Lift Grenades.
