I want a mage with the mindset of a Malcolm Hawke as the leader. But I doubt we'll get it.
Excellent post, MisterJB. You described the role of Asunder's characters that trigger the war perfectly.

I have a few questions OP - not sure you know the answer

1. In Asunder, did you get the feeling that there was there a chance for a more peaceful movement towards Mage "freedom"?
2. What was Wynne and Leliana's point of view regarding the Devine, and was this imparted to Fiona?
3. Was  the Devine not a potential ally who could change the manner in which Mages were treated? Did the fraternities know this?
4. Why did that Mage in Asunder try to kill the Devine?
5. Is Fiona a bit Anders-like in her zeal?

Thanks

I numbered your questions for easier answering. Also I can't promise giving a correct answer but I will try.

1. Maybe but given how stubborn Lambert and Templars were in not giving mages any more freedom I doubt anything peaceful was possible. Templars indirectly shouted shut up and be content with what you have.

2. Leliana and Wynne wanted peace over anything so naturally they supported the Divine but Leliana was part of the group that freed the mages, if they didn't do it the Templars might have killed most of Enchanters along with Fiona so I believe although they wanted peace they acknowledged the problems of mages.

3. The Divine was somewhat more kind towards mages, much more than the other Divines, that's for sure. But as far as I know she did not support the separation of circles, only wanted to investigate the tranquility cure more and defended mages agains the Templars.

4. To further their plan to free the cricles of course. The Divine would never support the separation and with her out of the way things would go much better for mages.

5. Fiona is like a better version of Anders. She is not possessed by a spirit and does not blow up the chantry. She precisely knows what strings to pull to reach her goal. She could have gone anywhere and do whatever she wanted but she went back to the cricle, the place she hates most only to free other mages. She is one of those few elves who doesn't hate humans despite her childhood experience. She however doesn't trust any nobility, maric was an exception. She certainly has zeal and devotion in what she does, but I believe its in a positive way. The people she is facing are not any less devoted to bring mages back to the circle.

I think Adrian would be a more likely choice to lead the mages rebellion, even not agreeing with what she did in Asunder.

@Rassler: what MisterJB is saying is that it wasn't smart to ask for the separation when they were surrounded by templars. And Fiona's 'success' was heavily based on Adrian's actions. Without Adrian I doubt that the conflict would've started, and the mages wouldn't have separated.

You're right, how could I forget Adrian. Fiona relied on Adrian's actions where as Anders just did what he wanted and Fiona merely used it to her advantage.

2.Yeah so leliana wanted peace and started killing templars... if she wanted peace she would let templars keep mages no thanks to her stupid ass we have war and my inq will have clean that knowing life... but at least i can see profits if we play cards right for my inq.

5.Yeah right good luck another nutsie what thinks that is morally superior...

They made both black still templars are lighter sade of black comparing to mages...

Besides there is a little argument to side with mages beyond just plaing nuts or being naive... i mean most problems that thedas have is caused by mages...

*Facepalm.
If you think that you have not been paying attention. Are you forgetting about the pro-circle mages?

I think a sidequest for DAI should be Anders and Fiona making babies, they are perfect for each other.

I have to admit I am interested in seeing Fiona ingame though, both for her as well as I finally want to meet Alistair's mother. It would be cool that if Alistair is alive the two meet up.

Anders X Fiona is a horrible pairing for horrible people. Also I think it could tell as pedophilia.

1. They would work if Templar did not abuse their power and do it in a manner mages right are taken in mind. No procircle mage want attack anyone till the templars tried to jail us in our own tower.

2. The veil tears because of alot of death in the area, not just because mage involvement. And their other horrilbe things that happen in DA that don't involve mages.

And Bioware has confirmed that a dead Anders will stay as a dead Anders.

Can't say I don't agree but as Grand Enchanter Fiona is default leader of Rebellion unless devs change it in the future. For now we can assume Fiona is the leader.

2.Mostly because of magic or at least caused by mages as far we have only orphanage caused by non-mages.
