I don't want to reinvent the wheel.... Does anyone know how to cause equipment to 'level up' when up in a storage chest (or any other method)? 

I am creating new armors and need a method of getting the materials (I'm using the default materials) to level up consistent with the level of the wearer.  I haven't seen any tutorials, but if anyone knows of any tutorials, examples within the game or has any input... please share the information!  I would prefer not to sell to a merchant and then buy the equipment back
