Does anyone have any experience doing this? I have begun the initial steps to start streaming but was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of in regards to lessons learned, tips, ideas, bad or good experiences?

I will most likely start off with Star Wars: The Old Republic than possibly move onto other games. The site I will be using is Twitch.tv and Xsplit as the broadcaster.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've never done one, but from the ones I do watch - best appeal about it, is that they're enjoy playing the game, so it doesn't feel like they're dragging it out, they keep up with chat and they tend to be decent at the game.

I've watched a few guilds who stream and only one seems to have fun playing. Its not all hard core grinding and yelling at guildies about gear and what not. I thought about streaming just to show that people actually have fun with the game versus being all ball to the wall raiding. That kind of game play is boring.

i agree with you guys pretty much.the ones i watch usually the people are just chatting about anything and everything, while keeping to some game chat about whats going on.will admit though i do enjoy when the videos get heated.and how the players are interacting with anger and also getting the game in their control again

i know twitch has become huge in the last two years.and with the last years evo it blew up.so the audience is totally there

Try to be interactive with chat which shouldn't be a problem for people new to streaming since there won't be many viewers at first, try to stream games you enjoy and it's good to have some varitations in what you play imo also a number of thing to think about:

1. have modbots or mods that can keep the chat clean, sooner or later you'll run into trolls or spammers which is very common on twitch, ddoser's are seen now and then too, some even try to advertise it before they do.

2. Try offer insight, tips and try to explain why you play the way you do, everyone appreciates a streamer that have knowledge of the games they play even more if they are skilled.

3. Have fun and be passionate of what you do since it creates a better and calmer environment for both you and your viewers.

4. playing popular games or at releases can help you get more viewers since it's higher traffic also try to have a "exciting" or appropriate title for your stream.

5. try to have a giveaway every month, smaller if you're new works fine for example when you reach goals liike 100 follower, 150 etc, it might not seem like much but it's a good way to reward loyal viewers.

6. have decent hardware and close applications for maximum smoothness.

This is just a few of hundreds tips but it's a start.
