I generally measure a players strength by how often they die. If you're getting dropped every wave Im probably starting a new quick match after the current one is over

I consider exceptional scores to be when everyone is within a very tight range; I've had some matches where everyone scored between 100k-110k. We were all competing pretty perfectly just to get kills and the match went pretty quickly

This happened to me yesterday.  A very even spread of scores in a Cerberus/Gold/Jade match.  Sorta feels good when everyone's pulling their weight.

...also sorta feels good when you pull some extra wieght and see your efforts rewarded.

^ Akire I heard you're pretty good player and I'm impressed. I have spoke to people who were pugging with me also spoke highly of you. it's rare that I get to hear anything good about BSN player. even ones I respect and admire. you're on that list too. lol

If you're trying to flatter me... it is working big time. ^_^

Unless you're not being serious. I'm so bad at reading sincerity on the internet.

For me:

Decent = 200K+

Good = 250K+

Exceptional = 300K+

Lol BSN.

A decent score, you know average score for most who don't spend their time here on these forums, is 100k plus. 200K is rare on a Gold match unless I'm playing a powerhouse class with competent players or playing with three temporary decoys. I think I've hit above 300K only a handful of times when starting with a full lobby, those games are a glorified solo.

After a while you take more pride in performance than score. Every one likes to top board but being the one that pulls your team's ass out of the fire with a good rocket or clinches a wave is boss as hell.

My rule is to always be at least twice the score of second place. Three times if they are PUGs

Being a team player is much more valuable than scoring high, IMO.

25 assists. Also I'm not going to be impressed about +200k scores if those came with objective and extraction wave nukes.

Cassandra is probably serious seeing as you actually are a good player. Well, at least you are very good with the Fury, never really saw you play anything else ;)

proportion > score,

as long as they aren't pulling no points they are decent, exceptional is when one hogs over half the points without nuking
and obviously their overall helpfulness is the most important factor

I always pug. A score of 100K is decent, 140K+ is good and 210K+ is exceptional on Gold.
Either me or the pugs.
Sub 80k scores means one 'requires some practice' or less lag etc.

To everyone saying 300+k is exceptional: it's not. It is what happens when your PuGs are exceptionally bad and you are forced to basically have an audience whilst you solo. Even if it is a common occurence...

Exactly. A game like this indicates that you are capable of soloing gold. Not everyone is, so it shows you are probably not entirely bad at this game. But it is hardly an exceptional feat. And quite possibly your selection of games still has some potential for improvement :-).

@OP, score is not at all a reliable indicator of contribution. But as killing stuff is central to the game, a good aim may be to pull at least your "share of the weight", i.E. 1/4 th of the total score. On Gold that should be in the 80 -100 k range iirc but I don´t know for sure. If you can pick up the slack in case some of your teammates are having diffciulties, so much the better.

I'd say a negative score would be quite exceptional. Never saw one myself...

If only people got negative points for not being in the hack circle ^_^
