Can't kill what you can't see, a sniper will take down my biotic enemy. *nod*

Or something equally cheesy.

This is my belief. As people have said, a biotic's attacks would be nullified by shields (since they're ME fields), giving soldiers and other non-biotics a fighting chance, but in terms of who stands the best chance against Biotics, I'd say snipers/Infiltrators.

An Infiltrator can cloak and decimate an unwary biotic, and as a sniper, they can take out biotics without being spotted.

The best weapon for a sniper would, I feel, be a powerful, steady semi-automatic sniper rifle (fires as fast as you can pull the trigger, as briefly seen in the Soldier class video, I believe).

It's been stated that sniper rifles and heavy pistols are weak agains biotic barriers, as to why who knows. But a sniper/infiltrator fires once and thats it, I doubt cloaking technology keeps enemies from hearing gunfire. If a biotic gets hit with a sniper or pistol round their barrier handles it and they now know where you are. You don't want a biotic to know where you are.

Realistically, a sniper would, at the very least, be hundreds of yards away. Biotics do not have that great a range.

Moreover, getting shot at almost never allows you to determine where the shots are coming from without time to make an assessment and multiple shots to allow you to make that assessment.

And, even if a biotic did become aware of a sniper, the sniper is likely equipped with shields, or is also a biotic and thus has a barrier, that likewise protects him from biotic attacks.

Again, biotics are not the ultimate weapon. They're just damn close, is all. :P

Wow. I really didn't expect so many replies. A lot of these posts opened my eyes. Hopefully maybe a strategy guide comes with some lore similar to dragon age.

Your best chance would be like in SW to kill a jedi: Shoot him, before he notices you. Headshot an gone.

Actually, the fact that shields stop biotics has made me consider changing my ME1 adept to a sentinel. As a sentinel, she can rip down shields quickly, then smear the enemy with biotics.

My money would be on a good soldier over an adept, actually, in ME2 (having not played it, of course, this may be crap). But it comes down to this: can the biotic take down his shields, before he kills or disables her. Given soldiers powers (especially adrenaline rush) I'm betting on the soldier.

If you do play an adept, you will either need to rely on your squadmates (aka, take a techie with you) or get up close and personal with a shotgun or smg to take down the shields of those enemies who have them. You can see in the adept video that none of the people the adept is tossing around have shields.

Since it is a squad game, perhaps not a big deal. But while I love my squaddies, I have being overly reliant on them, when I can only give orders and can't jump to them.

Doesn't Anderson take down a biotic in one of the novels?

Just read up on how he does it.

Also; very few Jedi ever die from "surprise headshots" in the Star Wars films. They're just don't turn on god-mode when they become alert.

Anything firing faster than "Blaster" would kill a Jedi.., ie. ANY conventional automatic weapon we have today.

(Film-wise. Lore argues that "blaster bolt things" travel at the speed of light or just super fast, clearly not made evident in the films)

Actually we do have an explanation on this one and i think it makes sense.

We've been told that kinetic and biotic barriers suffer more from a barage of small projectiles than a single large one. This means that shotguns, submachine guns and machine pistols are the ideal weapons against them.

While i'll leave the scientific speculation on why this would be a case till later, it makes a great amount of sense when you look at it from a perspective of someone trying to cover up the weakness of the other defence, armour.

When penetrating armour, you're better off having one large, high speed slug than a barrage of smaller ones.

Eg. You want to penetrate modern armour and i offer you the choice of several weapons.

MP5 SMG        9x19mm
M4 Shotgun    Buckshot
M-16A4            5.56x45mm
L96                   .338 Lapua   (8.60x70mm)

As you probably figured, the high powered sniper round do better than the AR round which will outdo SMG shots and shotgun pellets.

In ME2 armour is consequently vaulnerable to sniper, heavy pistol and AR rounds. It only makes sense that the other layer of defences would be optimised to counter the first two threats and be consequently weaker against the SMG and shotgun.
