Depends on when you did it. BioWare eventually added a post-release patch to fix a bug with face importing if you imported from ME1 to ME2 to ME3. Those who tried to import a Shep from ME1 had their face pretty severely mangled because ME1 doesn't have facecodes like ME2 and ME3 do. Also, people who imported only from ME2 to ME3 didn't have this issue.

After what ME3 did to my Shepard, why would I want him back?

it would be cool if the next threat is the Leviathans. We could recreate/repurpose the reapers or create a different solution to fight the Leviathans. The cannon ending to ME3 would have to be either destroy or control.

I think the Leviathans have served their purpose - a story centered around them would end up being a Reaper rehash, only with "enthrallment" instead of indoctrination and husks. I suppose the Leviathans' goals would be different, in that they would be more likely to exploit and control existing species than to carry out a harvest, but it would still be a story about the galaxy fighting ancient superbeings.

What the heck did you think 'paying tribute' means to Leviathans in their relationship to their followers?

They could be worse than Reapers. At least Reapers seem to do some degree of preservation over utter destruction of people.

I'm being very hypothetical here, but still..

Im serious with this.

I don't want Shepard at all in the next ME followed by no LI system because it is a waste of development and NO REAPERS or anything related to them.

If there are no LI options in the next game, then BioWare may as well make this their new logo.

Well, I would be hoping for this sort of thing to be included in the game itself rather than separate like the Keep.

And everyone had to recreate their Shepard's faces in ME3 already, as far as I know.

I'm batting 5-for-6 myself. Though one of the 5 came out looking weird.

I'd like him/her to return, but sometimes you gotta let the character go. I would like to know if the New Mass Effect will live up to its predecessor.

They already should have changed it after the ending in ME3.

I am just tired of worrying about getting ninjamanced again and again and I just want this option removed and replaced with a better story.

After stopping the reapers anything Shepard does will feel small time
I would rather play as a new protagonist that makes a name for themselves.

if you look at it from this point of view, every future protagonist can only solve "small time problems".

shepard set the bar almost unreachably high.

ot:

let me put it this way ... only a reboot of the mass effect series with shepard as the pc can convince me to buy another me-game.

at least at this point in time.

my problem is, that the "dream-team", who made me3 the way it is, is in charge of the next game.

i am having a severe flashback right now ... timecop .. ohnoez !!! ....aarrgh ... the pain ...

imho, only a reaper-free, episodical reboot of the series with shepard and our favourate characters can save this universe.

- spin offs are usually only half as good as the main stories,
- everything set too far in the future would make the last series nearly pointless (+ ending problems)
- prequels can work ... but "sadly" the universe is in a stateof peace when the humans show up
- the first contact war only had some minor skirmishes ... it ended before it really started
- going "commandos" or "firefly" could work .. but where would be the driving conflict?

Dunno, the most logical next big bad has already been introduced - the Leviathans aka the people who create quasi-gods to do their laundry, an any hero taking them on would be pretty close to eclipsing Shepard.

Terrorists? I mean, if the player will again be leading a three man squad than you don't need an enemy capable of fielding tank battalions.

Re OP: I will buy ME4 if, after watching a complete Let's Play, I judge it worth the money.

Possibly worse than Reapers. They're basically Reapers with biotic mind control abilities. They could have their own collector and husk like minions even. And even more, these would be normal people.. your own crew even.. that you'd have to kill.

After playing through the Dragon Age games I have zero problems with a new PC. I woudln't need forced cameos or returing squadmates aswell. I like the universe of Mass Effect more than I like Commander Shepard.

Again, as I said, if you're importing them *now* they should be fine because BioWare released a patch to fix the issue with face imports. When the game was released, however, ME1 faces would get ruined when importing to ME3.

Actually, one of my Sheps never worked even with the patch. I didn't get ME3 until after the patch was released.

terrorists? .. really? ...

this theme is exhausted ... we already had our mass effect terrorist group *sneeze* cerberus *sneeze*. bringing something "new" ... would that work out?

this is why a favour a reboot (i know its most likely (like 99.999%) not going to happen but if they would do it, we could experience a new and beleavabler cerberus .. with real, diabolic antagonists and tim (with his balls back.) as the new blofeld.

we could i.e.
- meet miranda as one of his (tims) agents who is at first trying to kill us (and then convince her to join our side).
- remeet garrus who is still a badass cop on the citadel but chooses to join the alliance as part of our new multi-lateral strike team.

... so much possibilities ...

Actually I'd welcome that change + this whole cult around all these virtual girlfriends is pretty weird and awkward. Are the LI-s really so important for these games and stories?

Are you new to Bioware games? Honestly curious. You're about 15 years late if you're going to start insulting people and wanting "LIs" to be gone.

As for their importance, no they're not. At best, the romances just enhance some of the themes (not all do, but most do).

"Screw Shepard and crew!" I need a new protagonist, a new story and new characters. The characters in ME1-3 are alright (some of them are pretty good), but I got bored of them. I don't want to eat the same food over and over again, no matter how good it is. And I definitely do not want a cheesy space opera. I want a misterious, dark toned, exploration-centered sci-fi adventure, like ME1 was (only upgraded in many ways), and not the jilly-jolly, power-trippy hero-flick with all its cliches. I'm also tired of the kind of squadmates who constantly kiss the protagonist's butt or have a crush on him. I don't want to explore the galaxy with "my" fans, but with actual characters, with personalities and agendas of their own.

I don't event want any forced references and cameos which would tie the new game to the trilogy in a very in to the face, nostalgic, fan-servicy way. I want it to be original, creative, interesting and able to stand on its own. Certainly it can have certain ties to the trilogy, but not direct and "look here I'am!!!'-obvious ties.

I bought the first two Mass games in 2011. Yes, I'm new, and I'm certainly not a hardcore fan of the company. I only played the ME-trilogy from them. Since then I purchased the first BG and DA:O as well.

I'm not insulting anybody, I'm just honest. I find this loveinterestism totally weird. I could live without the romance options, to me they do not add too much to the games. Actually they take away resources from other stuff, like more exploration, more dialogue options, missions etc.. So, yeah.

What I meant was if you had a Shepard that was created in ME1, then imported through the rest of the series... ME1 to ME2 to ME3.
