All people here do is complain about the crap BW did to their character. I seriously don't care about how you think this character shouldn't do this or this character ended in the wrong way. I am not here to be your trashcan or to give you the cheese.

Trashcan? Cheese? What are you talking about? And why is this about you all of the sudden?

And it isn't about "this or that" character. It's a whole cast of characters.

I'm actually happy with the VS in ME3, I believe they certainly needed more exposure, but I thought their story arc was still pretty interesting. I felt Jack and Kasumi needed a bit more, but I was still rather pleased with them.

Some people seem to be saying 'Just play the trilogy again'. Yes, it's good that we can always go back to it, but the part that saddens me is that the story is over, I'll never have any new adventures with these characters. I do agree with some of you though, I'm happy for their story to end rather than get a cheesy cameo from them in the next game, completely breaking the immersion.

I'm not asking Bioware to throw me a bone and give me another adventure with Shepard and his squad, this is really just admiration to what a great job they have done; and me finally acknowledging that Shepard's journey has came to its end.

And yet people still read those comics - and will continue to do so. It's not like everyone has gotten tired of it. Just speak for yourself, please.

Not everyone has, but there have been people that have.

I am glad they are moving from Shepard and crew, for I don't think a new team could bring the same feel to the game even if the existing characters were part of it and it could the run into the same problem as Halo 4 or what might happen now with Gears or War moving to a different studio.  You mentioned Buffy, but I rather have fond memories of Shepard and crew and not get frustrated at the game the way I did with the Buffy series over the last two seasons when something felt wrong.

This is actually a great point. Much of what we have grown to love about the ME characters comes from having had the same voice actors, and the same writers with a consistent vision handling them the whole time. Even were these characters to continue on, a new studio would interpret them a new way, and many would end up feeling alienated for those reasons instead of due to the complete absence of the characters. Very good point.

OP is right, the original ME crew will stay there in the memory deep where place is usually reserved for real people and friends.

I cant help but think of them as real people, I know of course that they are not but it does not stop me from wishing them real. Tali, Wrex, Zaeed, Garrus. I can line them up all in my head, I remember the jokes that were made and the adventures that were had. Sure they were all scripted and written by the people of BioWare but the memories are there.

I'm sure your no the only one OP. I'm certainly in the same boat. I don't play much as of the late because my xbox is about 4 hours away at home, but I always get a little urge to jump back on and replay the whole trilogy again.

That's one of the ways I know I finished a good/great game. I think you know that already, just wanted to say something, which I get.

The comic book comparison's an interesting one. I'll never understand how people continue to find interest in the same characters over decades-long spans, especially when said characters are constantly getting rebooted or thrown into alternate dimensions or just outright fighting the same people in the same place over and over and over again.

Yep, characters in mass effect universe are nicely done and i dont remember when i have had same kind of attachment to the game characters as this series.

I hope that some of the old characters will come back to mass effect 4 as companions or even as a playable character. Not all, but few, more should be on the npc in the universe, giving quests or something like that.

No point destroying all characters, as you would also destroy large part of the universe, also creating new characters is not easy and they will easily become as a "Shepard 2.0, grunt 3.0, liara vol 253. etc. Also seeing character growing or developing would be interesting to see.

Also hope that you could import your storyprogress from old mass effect, like if you would have romanced liara, then some of her dialog would change accordily. This would give the series feeling that you made some impact to the universe even in this case it would be minimal on the grand scale. Interactive story could do the trick to consoles.

This topic made me want to have sex in the shower with my clothes on - just as in that brilliant comedy game in which you romance aliens from getty images and can decide to merge c.o.c.k.s with steel (The Riddle of Steel, it's called).

This.

I'll miss the characters but I'd rather let them ride off into the sunset than have their character arcs get dragged on endlessly. It would quickly get a bit stale if you have the same dozen or so people continually save the galaxy from one crisis after another every few years.

The Milky Way is a big place, and in the Mass Effect universe it is filled with perhaps hundreds (?) of settled worlds and space stations that together are inhabited by trillions of people. There is certainly more than enough room in that to have more than one group of heroes.

And if Bioware was capable of writing one cast of characters that the fanbase got invested in, they should be capable of writing another.

Legion still has soul, for me.

Is a character that shold've appeared before to enjoy "them" more, the time limitation after their appeareance ruins all the background.

By the way, it was legion the one my shep took at the ending sequence, and was EPIC xD

Sure I get what you are saying OP but it is good for the franchise to branch out to new charactets and storylines. Having been with some of these guys for 3 games makes it tough to see them go but it is necessary

It's not necessary but I respect the decision nonetheless.

I think a short lifespan for such iconic characters is a shame. I'm better off getting more invested in a show (Buffy, Trek) or comics (X-Men, Avengers, etc). As much as I like ME's characters, I barely got to know them. Except a couple of them.

Short? We're talking about a trilogy with 35-65-hour-long installments. I wouldn't call that short. Actually I got bored of these characters by the end of the series. My last trilogy-run (with all dlcs installed) took almost 180 hours. It's hight time for something totally new.

That feels short to me.

But then I recently completed a BGT run that took me a good six months to complete. Was still a little sad when it finally ended.

Not that I mind Shepard being done.  After he got run into the ground, story-wise, I don't think I'd want to return to him anyway.

If there's no Shepard in ME4... There should be No squaddies in ME4.

If they bring back squaddies but not Shepard Ill be full of woe.

There's no Vikarian without Shepard.

over the years of enjoying the universe and characters that Bioware have created I've grown attached to the Mass effect characters, feeling like I have bonded and learned from them. The Citadel dlc certainly enhanced this feeling, and now that the series is over, I find myself missing the Normandy crew greatly. There will be more Mass effect games, and I imagine I'll love the new characters too,  but I can't help feeling that the shadow of the previous crew will linger much longer, or will never fade.  It is a strange feeling to think of fictional characters as friends and to actually feel a sadness and miss them; does anyone else feel this?

I applaud Bioware and the voice-actors on creating these amazing,  likeable and memorable characters; I reiterate this fact, I will miss them.

Agree 100%.

I can always play the games again, but knowing there are no more adventures from this crew,a replay is not the same.  I crafted Shepard in my own image - to the point of a psychosis some would contend; not being able to enjoy new adventures with this crew and "my" Shepard is disappointing.  Oh well...have to wait and see what BioWare cooks up for the next installment....

I'm going to miss Garrus and femshep the most. I like wrex and tali but neither were there as much as other games and I'm not really a Liara fan per se. I don't totally dislike her but if she hadn't been in ME3 I would have been fine.

I am now playing Javik a lot and really appreciating his commentary. I only played him when I first got the game but I was so busy playing the game that some of his comments never really got heard by me. Now I'm going to run an adept with him from right after mars and hear all his feedback, because bringing him to thessia was awesome. And I think I'll end up missing him because he's got a very interesting perspective
