Can you really control if someone cheats on you? Probably not. Yeah, I'm sure it sucks. But it happens from time to time.

Indeed, happy endings don't usually happen in real life; but I play games (especially if its an RPG) to get away from real life.

Is your real life actually unhappy, though?

The thing about my real life that I like escaping is its pointlessness, not its unhappiness.

Jack is happy.

Maybe that's why I like that storyline. Never (consciously) thought of it in those simple terms before.

If an item is made useless it means it can not be re-used or repaired.  You can't change a definition of a word just to fit your interpretation of something.

I'm not. I actually used a definition from the dictionary quote that you quoted, and pointed out that rendered useless is not the same as irreparable when you tried to claim it was.

There's no changing of definitions of words from me here.

And I did re-read it, you were accusing me of something I never stated.  I never stated the energy released was the same, in fact all my arguements show otherwise yet you keep accusing me.

You've changed your argument here. All I've been pointing out is the fact you're assuming the Crucible released the energy the same way as a massive rock crashing into it did. Why would I accuse you of saying something that I wouldn't be able to quote? My entire accusation would fall through the moment you asked for a source if that was the case.

tbh I hope the ME3 ending isn't like end of evangelion where the ending is still talked about 10 years later.

I imagine they thought that showing the Citadel Relay not destroying Earth would be enough. The Citadel does exactly what the Charon Relay does, and the explosion isn't even enough to destroy the Citadel, let alone Earth.

True, but I think people thought the Sol Relay was destroyed which would have still wiped out earth along with the Sol system.

Yeah, that's what they were thinking, but why would the Sol Relay destroy the system if the Charon Relay did not?

I'll bite. I have nothing going on important or meaningful, but I'm still happy, I think? No wrinkles or stress yet.

More like, I'm at peace with crappiness. I choose to be happy. Doesnt hurt to see it elsewhere though (like entertainment).

I saw some mistakes in my last post I suggest you re-read itas I removed some erros and expanded on what I was originally aiming at..  and again I never stated the energy released by the crucible is the same as the way it is released by an asteroid, I have no idea why you keep bringing that up as I have stated several times the energy was not relesed in the same way or not relased in it's entirety yet you keep going back to that .

God, no. I just wanted to point out that even if games are escapist, it doesn't necessarily follow that we're escaping from unhappiness

When I think of escapism, I think of adventure. Not necessarily emotional escape.

Hard to say, however the implication of what may have happened can make you overlook things.  Unfortunately I can only theorize myself since so much time has passed as to know what people were thinking the first time they saw it.

That does not mean the video game should have a happy ending.

If you're going to edit your post 8 minutes after you make it, you might as well make a new post.

Also keep in mind that it would take years if not decades to replace a relay and I doubt food stores would last for the fleet and earth in the time it would take to creat a new one, especially since there is no evidence showing that any council engineers know how to create a new relay from scratch.

FTL, though I don't know what this has to do with anything.

Plus since Hackett narrates the destroy ending and you see human squadmates in the EC ending showing no signs of aging it concludes they repaired the existing relays meaning they were not destroyed.

Hackett narrating and no signs of aging doesn't actually have anything to do with the relays not being destroyed. No signs of aging suggests a small amount of time has passed, the relays don't have anything to do with that so I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this.

Then there is this final nail in the coffin

HYR 2.0 wrote...

Patrick Weekes on the ending and mass-relays:

Q: Did the mass relays pull an Arrival and go supernova?

A:
No, they didn't. They overloaded, they didn't rupture. We really didn't
mean to imply that the whole galaxy had been destroyed. People
interpreted the ending in ways we really didn't expect.

Which proves the relays were not destroyed.

Wait, my argument was that the Crucible didn't release the energy the same way as a massive rock did, Weekes stated the Crucible didn't release the energy the same way as a massive rock did, and this proves they were not destroyed? How?

Seeing as though Weekes just confirmed what I said, I wouldn't exactly describe it as a nail on the coffin.

haven't been here in a very long time the fact that the ending is still being discussed is a testament to how Bioware took something that could have been epic and completely destroyed it ..

I was playing it on release day and as of today i still have less than 100 hours played .

If some still are not aware this is available

I rescue animals that humans have ill treated. Plenty of misery there sadly.
I don't realllyyy need more of that in my entertainment.

Hmm, a line of Grunt's in ME2 caught my attention. He's talking about a tank imprint, and how humans, asari and salarians are soft, but Quarians have tougher skin, and turians you need to work a blade.

It occured to me that Tali may probably have much harder skin than humans based on that line.

I'm so tickled when folks start saying there doesn't need to be a happy ending to everything. That is true. However, if I'm buying... I want conflict, triumph, painful moments, hard decisions (all of it) and at the end of it all... I want bliss.

Its about pleasing me because of my $$ which I hand to Bioware/EA on a re-occurring basis for my entertainment. I don't want to pay to be depressed. I can do that for free just fine. Thank you.
