Yes I know...this is an old game. I never played it, however, and bought it for a buck in a humble bundle. I'm having great fun with it, reminds me of bioware games.
How do I choose specific followers? I am on my second island. The first island I chose was the Athena one, now I am on the Ares one. Someone told me when I leave my ship that is when I choose followers, but I do not get any menu when I leave; I just get stuck with Hercules and Pan. Do I complete all three islands then I can choose or what?

I think it is when you complete it IIRC. Speaking of which though, I vaguely remember the game. It was riddled (in my opinion) with terrible animations for some NPC's and some terrible western voice acting. It was only half way into the game that I started enjoying it. At that point I remember the combat opening up more, the story getting better and some great dialogue and cut scenes and I had long since learnt to ignore the empty stares of NPC's as they spoke.
And I hated Jason's awful running animation when he had his weapons sheathed.
