Daft? Incompetent?
I mean, she doesn't even question why the Warden is talking all creepy like Cory was doing five bloody seconds ago, just goes "lol okay see you" and leaves without a backwards glance. Nice one, Hawke. Nearly as good as the Tallis DLC where she just lets a spy very slowly walk off.
Why would she? Maybe this is how the warden normally talks when Cory isn't screaming inside their heads for all Hawke knows. Really, Hawke has no idea possession is even something Darkspawn can do. Holding a knife to someone-you-barely-know's throat because they're talking a little strangely is an action more reserved for irrational psychopaths than "intelligent" individuals.
And honestly, Cory's speech pattern isn't THAT distinctive.
'Cause Cory is incredibly dangerous and insane? That choosing a better safe than sorry route is the smart thing to do, rather than act as if the Warden, who hasn't spoken like that before, suddenly starts talking like Cory is totally fine and leaves?
She's seen templars get possessed, she's seen Anders. So yeah, not far-fetched idea that an incredibly power and old Magister can possess people.
She's stupid and lets a very dangerous thing walk free because she's a lousy protagonist who just mucks things up.

Well,
I'm of the opinion it was stupid; Cory's dangerous, yet Hawke doesn't
even bother checking out the weird behaviour that occured post mortem.
Nice one, Hawke.
Yeah. Hopefully we won't have a failure for a hero for DAI.
Well that's more of the case of the players having more knowledge than the PC
The Warden speaks to Hawke directly after the fight in Cory's speech patteren. She could, ya know, ask why they're doing that, rather than just leaving.
