That whole DLC end was just showing how monumentally stupid Hawke was again. I get enough of that in the base game; you'd think they would make the DLC's not make her a drooling incompetent but there you go.

Considering that Hawke has no way of knowing that Archdemons or any other Darkspawn might be able to escape death through possession (Or even that they can possess), no there's nothing stupid about Hawke letting the grey warden go.

Never mind that Hawke has seen loads of crazy crap, including Templars being possessed and knows how damn dangerous Cory is you'd figure she'd notice the weird speech patteren the Warden takes on after Cory 'dies' that is identical to Cory's speech.

She's stupid and careless.

As incompentent I find Hawke in DA2 I can't really call Hawke stupid in that DLC, careless maybe but not really stupid at that point

Daft? Incompetent?

I mean, she doesn't even question why the Warden is talking all creepy like Cory was doing five bloody seconds ago, just goes "lol okay see you" and leaves without a backwards glance. Nice one, Hawke. Nearly as good as the Tallis DLC where she just lets a spy very slowly walk off.

That's why I said careless ;)

Now the things with Tallis was in-fact stupid of Hawke

Why would she?  Maybe this is how the warden normally talks when Cory isn't screaming inside their heads for all Hawke knows.  Really, Hawke has no idea possession is even something Darkspawn can do.  Holding a knife to someone-you-barely-know's throat because they're talking a little strangely is an action more reserved for irrational psychopaths than "intelligent" individuals.

And honestly, Cory's speech pattern isn't THAT distinctive.

Well, I'm of the opinion it was stupid; Cory's dangerous, yet Hawke doesn't even bother checking out the weird behaviour that occured post mortem. Nice one, Hawke.

Yeah. Hopefully we won't have a failure for a hero for DAI.

'Cause Cory is incredibly dangerous and insane? That choosing a better safe than sorry route is the smart thing to do, rather than act as if the Warden, who hasn't spoken like that before, suddenly starts talking like Cory is totally fine and leaves?

She's seen templars get possessed, she's seen Anders. So yeah, not far-fetched idea that an incredibly power and old Magister can possess people.

She's stupid and lets a very dangerous thing walk free because she's a lousy protagonist who just mucks things up.

The Warden speaks to Hawke directly after the fight in Cory's speech patteren. She could, ya know, ask why they're doing that, rather than just leaving.

I agree with you on that, but Hawke most likely assumed that was the Warden originally speech pattern

Ugh, I suppose that's Hawke's typical reaction; she doesn't respond until things blow up in her face- somtimes literally. Otherwise she'll said on her ass for years on end. Classic case of 'protag sits around doing jack until the bad things reach bad proportions'

I just hope the Inquistor isn't as stupid and passive as Hawke is.

Well since we'll be able to have a Warden companion and maybe Warden allies in-general, the Inquistor might learn more than Hawke ;)

I just checked the scene.  Janeka and Larius speak almost entirely normally for most of the conversation.  Even so, Hawke CAN ask why they sound differently.  They say its because Corypheus' influence is gone and Hawke really has no reason to disbelieve them.

Neither of those things are even remotely comparable.  That possessed mages become Abominations is common knowledge.  Templars are normal people, that demons CAN possess them is no surprise so much as they usually DON'T, but it's always DEMONS that do the possessing.  Outside the Grey Wardens, Darkspawn possession is entirely unheard of.

The thing is, Cory is already established as insanely powerful, crazy and completely unknown in terms of power, considering he was one of the original Magistrates.

You'd figure they would be cautious about what he is capable of doing including possession, since it was already estbalished he was screwing around mentally with the Wardens and should of killed the Warden's just to be completely sure, rather than leave it open for Cory is escape.

So, you're right in a way; they aren't comparable since it's obvious Cory is in a different league of his own and Hawke's even more stupid for dismissing him so quickly.

He's very powerful, but there's no precedent at all for either Darkspawn or mages possessing people, as far as Hawke knows its impossible.  Only demons can do it.  Expecting her to suspect it is ridiculous.  Hawke just kicked his ass, so he can't be that powerful.  At any rate, there's no rational reason for Hawke to do anything more unless:

(A) Hawke is a psychopath that kills allies for kicks or because the voices in his head told him Corypheus was possessing them.

(B) You're projecting player knowledge onto Hawke unjustly.

She's met Flemeth as well, who is some crazy woman who can make copies of herself, pretty much cheating death, and turns into a dragon. Cheating death via short cut shouldn't be such a far fetched idea for Hawke to wrap her head around.

(A) what is roleplay durr
Also, killing the Wardens would be completely justified in this scenario.

(B) Oh come on, Cory doesn't even bother hiding.
