If he lives, do you think he'll be as manipulative in DAI?

Personally, I never considered Anders to be manipulative, but that's because my Hawke was also a revolutionary and a pro-mage warriror.

He definitely plays the guilt card and puppy dog eyes a lot.

Yes I do.

Also there is a forum for Dragon Age 2 characters.

He was manipulative towards Hawke, and hypocritical enough to try and use Chantry law to protect mages even though he opposed the Chantry. He's something of a flawed hero, which is why I consider him one of my favourite characters.

Chantry law?
The clostest he has done pro-chantry is believe that Anderste hated magisters, and not mages.

Also, wouldn't a manipulative person WANT you to love them?

A little bit. If you romance him, he plays off of Hawke's feeling for him so he can put his plan in motion to set up the trap to destroy the chantry.

It didn't bother me much though considering that I kind of fell in line with his point of view when it came to the Circle, Elthina, and the Templars abusing their power to the point of making themselves Judge and Executioner of mages for the slightest things. I don't agree with his methods though.

Well yeah, he was. He often used his circumstance as a crutch and a lot of times seemed to not want to have consequences befall mages, including blood mages, by playing up how bad and evil every templar wars and how wrong the chantry was. Legacy showed a lot about his character and how self-righteous and a little vain he was in thinking his account about what happened with mage history was right and everyone else was wrong, even with overwhelming evidence in front of him. He tried to use my hawke a lot to get things done for him, often by leaving out key details about what was really going on.

That being said though, anders wasn't too far more manipulative then anyone else was in dragon age. Except maybe aveline, isabela, and varric, they didn't seem to try and use you for their own ends too often, or were at least honest about it, and certainly didn't try to emotionally do so.

So he's manipulative, but at the same time manipulative is a subjective measurement to use.

"Hey Hawke, I need to you help me gather special ingredients so I can separate from Justice without either of us dying. No, I'm not lying to you so you'll help me blow up the chantry."

Yes. More so if you romance him.

I mean his goal is all well and good and I agree but his methods pissed me off. I want to stick the knife right up his ass but then I don't, just to ****** Sebastian off... >:D

Yes.

I'm not terribly bothered by it, really. People are manipulative over far smaller things than the cause he seeks to advance. If I ultimately condemn him, it's not for being manipulative.

Ha!  I love pissing him off xD  Choirboy gets on my last nerve!

But I'd never try to Kill Anders.  He and Fenris are my favorite romances :D

Can't speak for anyone else's game, but in mine Anders dies sometime between Awakenings and DA2. Instead this <expletive removed> demon who likes to masquerade as a benevolent spirit showed up in DA2 wearing Ander's skin. Kind of reminded me of the bug wearing Edgar's skin in Men in Black, but the bug was more forthcoming.

I know!

I'll take Anders over him any day. I always Rivarly with him to make him go back to Starkhaven. I got so annoyed when he didn't leave, I wanted to get rid of him. -_-;

I don't think he ever believed all Templars to be evil. He may have seen them as expendable in dire situtations,.

Yeah, he lied to me but what he did was necessary, not the destruction of the chantry with people in it, but something like it.

One of which is a mixture of pee and poo poo, which I'm going to ingest later as part of a potion.

Actually, he admits that he lied about the potion before the Grand Cleric thing if you press him.
