Since the self help forums are closed, I decided to start this thread here.  So, I'm sure a lot of folks have heard about the Repentance bug.  For those that don't know, at some point during the quest Repentance (either in the house or when he goes downstairs,) the game will hang with "loading" down at the corner.  Hitting ESC during that scene did not work.    Needless to say I was frustrated.

I started googling and not having much luck.  After some digging, I realized that Legacy was the last DLC I had purchased.  I was saving the story for Act 3.  With narrowed eyes, I rolled up a new character without Legacy installed and got to Seb's quest in Act 2.  No hangups, no issues with Repentance.   I put Legacy back in and continued the game.  The quest Faith had no issues at all.

The best way to avoid the Repentance bug is to take out the da2_prc_drk files out of your Bioware Documents folder and out of your addins folder from your game file (usually to be found under C:/Program Files (x86)/Dragon Age 2.)  Do this before you start a new game.  Try to knock out Repentance as soon as possible and put your folders back in.

If you do Legacy before Repentance, you are out of luck.  You will not be able to load your game without the DLC and you still might run into the bug during Seb's quest.  Just a friendly tip for those that might be frustrated like I was.

Happy gaming!:wizard:

You just need to temporarily remove the patch for the DLC; this can be done at any time.

(That link suggests moving the patch folder to the desktop, but you can actually just rename the folder, and then revert the name after you successfully complete the bugged quest.)

I had tried that and it didn't work. The only thing that worked was removing both folders entirely.  I had tried every solution that google had come up with, including that one.  That's why I was passing this along.  If removing/renaming the patch doesn't work, my solution does.
