I dislike this game *immensely*/.

Crashes every five minutes.
Cannot complete Companion Quests. (For example, Aura won't talk to you, nor can you speak to Aura)
Possibility of quests breaking (Keenan's Wedding Ring, much?)
This basically means that you won't be able to have most, if any, of your companion's survive.
This was a mistake, I wouldn't even call this a game.

1. No Darkspawn at the beginning after the initial fight with Mhairi and the other survivor.
2. Oghren in an empty room, refusing to speak to me.
3. Blackenmarsh WAY TOO CRASH HEAVY!!!
4. Queen of the Blackenmarsh = Missing.
5. Aura will in front of well at Vigil's Keep. Cannot be interacted with.
6. Amaranthine Constable refuses to speak to you, regardless if you sided with the Smugglers or not.
7. Cannot return to where the Architect was originally in order to retrieve Keenan's Wedding Band.
8. Justice For Kristoff = Unfixable.
9. Freedom for Anders = Broken. Warehouse door cannot be interacted with regardless of who's in the party. The whole console code to teleport into the Warehouse is redundant: Rylock isn't there.
10. Random Encounter with three Dalish pointless, they cannot be interacted with.
11. Cannot fight the Wraith in the Vigil Keep's basement = Avvar War Mages not there.
All in all? Good luck trying to get your companions to survive without being able to do the companion quest. Good luck trying to beat the game without it crashing like ****. Good luck importing a character to DA II and having them actually show up. I would have loved to see Nathaniel again. Oh wait, he was dead even though he was in my party at Amaranthine. Bioware doesn't seem to think that we should have a bug-free game. They should have released another patch. The whole 1.05 patch fixed Companion Quests? What sort of lies are they spewing now?

(think its the same in origens)
I went to amarantine without first talking to the 3 guys in the keep, and broke several quests because i talked to quest guys for whom i had no quest at that moment.
Started from a save i had from before i went there, and problem was solved.
In amarantine doing quests for the smuglers and the guard both can break this questline.
I think the best is to do only the guard quests, (so eradicate the smugglers)
I agree with you dragon age crashes now and then.
With me its very unpredictable. sometimes i can play all night without a single crash
and sometimes i crash 3 times in an hour.
All i can say is save a lot.
yesterday i lost all of my warden commander armor wich was on allistair.
Probably because the dragonage service was not running(windows pc)
Hmmm that was funny allistair in just knickers, a helmet, weapon and shield 8)
wardens keep also disapears a lot from my map lately.
certain spellcombos also sometimes cause me to crash.
On the forum people also advice to uninstall mods you have running for da.
These can interfere with the standard game and cause problems like
people not being there or quest becomming broken in some way.
Even with the occasional crash i still love this game.
Me wants da3 or bg3 8-)

I'll grant you Awakening, but Origins is far better about this kind of thing.

I don't know if this will help or not. IF you have mods installed for the OC, some of them will break Awakening. I would suggest disabling all mods not proven to work with Awakening, and try again. One mod I know for sure does not work with Awakening is Innodil's Pocket Plane (which I love to use in OC).
~~Edited~~ I know for a fact if you have any mods installed for DAO, and they are not approved to work with Awakening, there will be no darkspawn at the beginning of the expansion past the very first encounter~~~No way to continue playing.

Hm. I never had a problem with Awakening. I read that there were many bugs associated with the game, but I played through it smoothly.

The only ones I know about are in awakening. You have to do Blackmarsh last so you can recruit both Velanna and Sigrun. You shouldn't start law in order quest before recruiting Sigrun or you won't get her personal quest. Don't talk to the shady character or the law in order quest will close. Constable will assume you are working on the Smuggler's quest. You can not do both the law and order and the smuggle quest you have to pick one. If you are equipped with item from origins like lifegiver ring take them off before entering the mines. I always take a change of gear and take off the good stuff before I enter the mine. All my stuff from origins does end up in the chest by the merchant before fighting the pair of dragons. Those are the only ones I know about.

Hmm I have to say I have never had issues with awakening at all. In the three times I have played it. So am kinda stumped on advice. Unless like what luna1124 said you are using mods. You will just have to go through each mod you have and figure out what one is causing awakening to go loopy. If not then your best bet would be to go to nexus mods and see if you can find a fix there.

Sometimes Holy Smite kicks me out of the game and one time whirlwind did. The silverite mines bug happened once but I reloaded unequipted nug crusher and it worked fine.

I was surprised by how many quests were dependent on doing them in a very specific order in Awakenings. I've been tempted to do another playthrough just because I hate leaving quest lines unfinished, but the fact that Valenna's personal quest may never come up no matter what sort of deters me, because I'd hate to do it again, only to have the random encounter never pop up anyway.

The one that is very arbitrary for me to complete is Velanna. It's just very hard to get her random encounter quest to trigger.

Sigrun's Roguish Past:
If you have Sigrun in your party, walk by the east side of town past Constable Aidan. There will be a cut scene showing Sigrun bumping into Mischa; the female dwarf is not pleased to meet Sigrun again. It is quickly revealed that Sigrun, before joining the Legion of the Dead worked for the Carta. Mischa had been helping Sigrun, as she felt sorry for the casteless dwarves. However. one day a gold statuette depicting the Paragon of House Bemot was stolen, and Beraht, the Carta's boss, forced Sigrun via blackmail to hide the statuette in Mischa's shop. Eventually it was found and Mischa was exiled to the surface. The conversation is brief, as Mischa is very busy working for a tanner.

Back to Vigil's Keep and speak to Sigrun and she will tell you that she is fully responsible. If you say, "You're not the person you used to be", the quest will update, to seek Mischa out. Mischa is located in The Crown and Lion and by approaching her, a cutscene plays. Sigrun will offer the gold ring that previously belonged to Varlan, a noble from House Vollney, who was a friend of Sigrun in the Legion. Mischa will accept the ring and thank Sigrun unless you choose to tell Sigrun to keep the ring and give money to Mischa, instead. She will tell you the ring is at least worth 20 DAO goldpiece trans but you can negotiate:(Persuade) It's old. It's only worth fifteen. Ico Appr Heart Sigrun approves (+6) (this requires Expert Coercion)Then take 30. Ico Appr Heart Sigrun approves (+6)Twenty sovereigns it is. Ico Appr Heart Sigrun approves (+6)It is 250 xp.
I see. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

I didn't the first time I played it. When I lost my data and re-installed it (a long with a new Origins playthrough) it was SO BUGGED. Like, constant random crashes for no reason (Origins too, actually) and losing plot gift items. Mods fixed most of the potential bugs that occur anyway (Joining issues, Sigrun quest, Nathaniel issues...)
I have tried everything to fix the crashes. Nada. My PC has the capacity and more to handle Origins and 2 graphics, so it's not that. Nor is it ANYTHING but it just is like hey imma crash bye THEN I HAVE TO DO TI ALL FGAAGIN AHHIPHUSF

The game isn't any better on consoles. You have to deal with a nerfed interface and reduced features, and you get fewer patches.
At least on the PC you can do something about problems that occur, and quite often the community takes over where the publisher fails (read: sees insufficient ROI on quality control and post-release support). Dragon Age is a bit atypical in that regard, as there seems to be no concerted, canonical bugfix project as there was for Morrowind and Oblivion, for example. That is probably because BioWare used to provide excellent post-release support for its games, including bugfixes and patches many years after release.
