I'm currently playing the Feros mission to save the colonists, if possible, and for some reason I saved my only save file in an elevator. Didn't even realize it, to be honest. Anyhow, now it won't go beyond the loading screen if I go to activate the elevator? What in the world is going on here?!

It's a known bug, never save in an elevator. You shouldn't even be allowed to, normally. Hopefully you have a 2nd last save to revert to, and didn't keep saving your game in the same save slot.... you could try loading your autosave as well, from further back.
