I wouldn't say that the Catalyst was untouchable. The Carnifex heavy pistol reached out and touched it something fierce.
What do you think is the most poorly written scene in the ME series?

The scene where Aria holds her speech to the people on Omega, when it's freed from Cerberus... she doesn't stand in one place, she keeps popping around.... very badly written IMO

Badly rendered/animated, can't really blame the writers for that one.

Liara saying that Ashley needs medical attention. The delivery of both lines was just so BAD.

"The Citadel? The fight's here."
Yeah, ok. Try and fight off a massive scale reaper invasion with no armor, sh*tty guns and no support from other races.

Yeah, it's pretty irksome how Anderson is the one that has to tell us all of this, when Shepard has an order of magnitude more experience with the reapers than he does. But then, all of the prologue's dialogue is pretty borked in astoundingly weird ways. I can honestly only remember a single line from the entire thing where something sensible is said, and it's Shepard's response to Anderson's tearing into him/her about destroying the Alpha Relay.

I think some VA's were extremely restrained in their performances, Ali Hillis for example has done much better voice work elsewhere, but she was very monotone when voicing Liara, it was a real struggle when it came to listening to Liara speak for long periods of time, it was so bland. Jennifer Hale is another one, I'm sorry Femshep fans but the voice acting for Femshep is probably the worst Hale has ever done, it sounded as if she was half asleep in the booth. I think the likes of Hale and Hillis got some bad direction from the VA director because what you hear in the game isn't very good.

Eh, I still think she does a better job than Meer at this. His best role, to me, will always be Niftu Cal.

Kai Leng: SHUT UP!
Best comeback ever.

Hale just plain sucked as Shepard imo. I like Hale, but her Shepard voice was so raspy, too deep, and sounded like a person who smoked a pack a day. I wish she did an accent for Femshep, and I wish she had a bit of a higher voice for it.

Javik: Asari are observant.
Liara: Was that... sarcasm?
Javik: And easily confused.
I enjoyed both Hillis' and Hale's performances... but could never finish a male Shepard ME1 playthrough, because I thoroughly dislike Meer's VO.

Pretty much, yeah, it's subjective. To each their own.
I played female Shepard for a few missions and then I stopped because I couldn't stand Jennifer Hale. Playing her in ME2 felt like such a bad chore. It's like she's trying too hard.
Meer is much better IMO.

I love how Javik ruthlessly trolls Liara. And I wish Shepard had more of an ability to point how correct he is many times.
Plus, I love Meers deadpan in the first game, since it pretty much fits perfectly with how I characterize my Shepard. His more light-hearted, soft approach works well if you romance Miranda. Otherwise, he never really lets his guard down for anyone (minus the obligatory forced softness with Liara), and has a larger than life approach which does the voice justice: He's not just a man behind the rumors. He's a god behind them. People here the legendary stories of Shepard. Then they see him and realize the stories were pitifully short-scale.

In reality females tend to have that higher pitched voice but I never saw it as raspy. I found Mark's voice dull a lot more so than it did Hales. I but I do think some of his lines were well done.Hale just plain sucked as Shepard imo. I like Hale, but her Shepard voice was so raspy, too deep, and sounded like a person who smoked a pack a day. I've never seen Hale's voice described as raspy before. Unless my auditory cortex, or the audio circuitry in my laptop, phone and TV are on the fritz, I just cannot detect the rasp.

Leng wasn't handled well, but he's not the first right-hand henchman to receive cartoonishly dumb dialogue in the series. Benezia is, arguably, worse.
Nor is he the first villain to receive an unjust "victory" and escape from Shepard: no matter if you ROFLstomp Saren or not on Virmire, he still gets off his helipad and chokes/distracts Shepard long enough for the plot to claim either Kaidan or Ashley.
