What do you think is the most poorly written scene in the ME series?

I don't think this is "poor" writing, exactly. Just lazy, convenient, and reliant on the vague "the plot demands" schlock magic people seem to dislike.

It works well enough at moving the story forward, though, and I do think the mystery behind it (and the Thorian) is remotely interesting.

Verisimilitude is a problem I think a lot of people lack here.

It's kind of weird when you think about it. Shiala seems to be there mostly as a way for Shepard to kill the Thorian but still get the Cipher.

It's the Internet.  It happens.  Posters exaggerate sides of their opinion for effect.

So you're  AlanC9's spokesperson?

And since you brought up conventional victory. What would be wrong with that?

What other point were you trying to make by saying they didn't shoot him from the back?

Or were you just showing your fabulous observational skills?

You just mentioned it yourself:

Remember? (I'll edit it back into the post where I quoted you.)

Not in the original post, but I wasn't replying to the original post.

If you didn't want to talk about conventional victory, why did you engage on the subject rather than just telling Psychevore that this was going OT?

Not in the post you first quoted

No, but you didn't say  Psychevore was wrong in mentioning conventional victory leaving me to believe that's what you thought I meant in the post that you first quoted of mine.

Who says I don't want to talk about conventional victory?

Thanks for the compliment about my observation skills.

The point I was making had Hackett attacked Sovereign from behind it would've minimized the loss of ships and life.

Well your observational skills suck:

8:50-9:20. They're hitting him from ALL angles it doesn't hurt Sovereign one bit

My observations skills are fine. It doesn't show any ship directly behind the reaper. And had Hackett had all ships firing from behind, they would've caused damage

It actuallywas the very same post of yours. I just didn't fully quote your post originally; I skipped the second line. I didn't quote that line because I hadn't intended to mention CV, but since I was already saying that Psychevore was making sense, I figured there'd be a nice symmetry in talking about something that didn't make sense. Namely, conventional victory. I blew off re-editing my quote because I figured that you'd remember what you had just written a few minutes ago. My bad.

Then we can talk about it. It doesn't make any sense. Your move.

I'm going to take a wild guess that the writers simply did not add this vulnerability to the reapers until ME3.

Especially considering that in space there is no reason to have a front or back.

Mass Effect ships, even the Reapers, use spinal-mounted mass accelerators as their primary weaponry.

This isn't like Star Wars, where ships have turrets and a lot of them. Attacking a ship from behind means it can't fire its weapons at you

Sovereign seemed to have weapons all over it. It was basically firing death rays from its arms.

Fair enough, but how straight back can it aim?

Also, why were they engaging so close? Yes, Hackett is an idiot, but it seems most human leaders in the game are.

Because it is more impressive to do so. They might as well have hidden behind the citadel walls and used tv guided missiles. But that wouldn't be as cool looking. As far as it doesn't ruin the story or the narrative it is ok in my books. "There isn't sound is space or fires :o

It's okay to have a bit of an artistic license, just don't let it backfire like in ME2.

So the scene would look cool, of course. (Ninja'd)
