It could be a live action playable, filmed in 1000000000 frames per second and I silt wouldn't play it.

Graphics, do not help.

Gameplay, story etc.

Right now the only game that could warrant getting a next gen upgrade is the first Mass Effect. Graphics need to advance a bit more before there would be a big enough difference for 2 and 3.

Since I like the story despite its flaws, and I don't give a damn about all this negativity coming from people who can't get over their dislike for the ending, I definitely would buy it.

Just a sidenote: I would change a thousand things about the game's story to make it get closer to my taste myself (like those who dislike the ending), but most people here would disagree, rage about it enldlessly and hate me for it. I would make a darker toned, and more horroristic sci-fi thriller - warepic which would focus a lot more on the more intricately written story, really hard decisions (no easy "lets paragon it" way out) and less on the characters and cheesy LI-fillers. Plus I would scrap ME2 altogether: I would rewrite it completely (from scratch) and scrap all filler characters like Jack, Samara, Thane, Grunt, Jacob, Miranda and there would be no loyalty missions. I would also say good bye to the chest pounding and juvenile power-trip fantasy, oh and the stupid one-liners too.

If they ever redo ME1 on Frostbite they really need to tune gameplay a lot.

Yes. Hopefully in a few years they'll put out a Classic ME Trilogy Super Special Edition with All The Trimmings (and all the DLC) for the next-gen systems. A physical copy with multiple discs and a big, fat Baldur's-Gate-sized manual. Maybe even some cheesy N7 stickers or temporary tattoos. Take my money, Bioware!

Maybe In 2017, for the 10 year anniversary, like Halo:CEA.

If it was just the graphics, no. It would need some gameplay tweaks too to be worthwhile.

No way. Make a new game for Christ's sake instead of milking the old ones. It wouldn't even be worth it anyway, they all look perfectly fine, even the first one. In ten years maybe.

if they released a Ultimate trilogy pack on PC, XB1, and PS4 that was $60 and:

- Includes all three games and every piece of DLC (including promotional content and CE weapons/armour)
- Fixed bugs/glitches
- Next Gen graphics

then id buy it in a heartbeat, the only reason i havent ditched my 360 while i own an XB1 is for mass effect

I would hate this. It would be a wasted opportunity and a waste of time.

I would love to see a full re-build of the Mass Effect trilogy - made into one single game - for next gen though. The thing is, this can't be a simple port, Tomb Raider style. For it to work, it needs to be a complete update of gameplay - eliminating the stiff character animations and introducing better player motion - and a reconstruction of the levels to make them much wider and more organic and natural.

They could use most of the dialogue and maintain the basic plot line, but organize the chain of events in a more efficient way - for example, introduce a rumor of the Crucible in Vigil's dialogue - and make the middle chapter more focused on the search for the crucible mystery.
Also, since I'm wishful thinking here, they should completely rewrite certain aspects, including the ending.

Still, no matter what they do in the future, it's too soon for any of this. We still need a few years to process all our......... feelings...

I'm a graphics nut, so yes I would get this. Plan to run Witcher 3 and other newer games on 4k display, and an updated ME series (DX11, tesselation, etc.) would suit me just fine.

For now I run them all at 1920x1200 with graphics tweaks and they look pretty good. The low-res movies are the only sore point for me.

Respectfully disagree. Many people voiced their problem with the fact that the Crucible just seemed to be coming out of nowhere in the beginning of ME3. Just imagine that Vigil - a Prothean V.I. - would hint to a Prothean attempt to fight the Reapers. He wouldn't be able to expand on the issue, since it was a secret project, and as you inquire him more, he just fades away.

Imagine also that the search for information on this Prothean secret project, would intertwine with the story of Mass Effect 2 - which, by the way, already focuses heavily on the Prothean background.

To conclude, imagine that ME3 is not about building a Crucible from scratch, but that you actually find the relic of the (very incomplete) Prothean Crucible project. And your goal is now to continue that project - which is also made easier because you have a Prothean squadmate.

Anyway, these are just some superficial thoughts. It's easy to make these considerations now. And, just to make things clear, I made my peace with ME3 long ago and consider it the most entertaining of the three games. There's a lot to love in it. But it has its issues. A remake would allow a revision of the most frail aspects of the narrative, while retaining the core of the main storyline.

But, as I said before, it's still too soon to consider any of this.

No....Imagining that Vigil knows anything about a completely separate top secret project is just making it even more unbelievable. Vigil oversaw the Conduit project. What makes you think he knows anything about the Crucible? Or that he should? The Prothean Empire was shattered and cut off from one another.

Just because you're working on one project, doesn't mean you have any knowledge and access to other top secret projects. Not sure what philosophy that is....

I have no problem with them introducing some hints of the Crucible throughout ME2 (the game could've always used more in the way of an actual plot). No reason to change the way it was found. I never thought that was a problem. They found it in a newly excavated part of the Mars Archives. Makes sense. Works fine.

Yes, I agree. if you tweak the .ini and do some forced AA/AF even mass effect looks pretty good. Really shows the difference when you get to the low res movies. However that is obviously one of the benefits of playing on PC.
I think this looks pretty decent considering it's age:

Not sure what updates graphics would do. Much more important things to focus on.
