All ATI users with any issues contact ATI tech support. I spent the last 45 minutes on the telephone with ATI and they are unaware of any issues. For EA to tell me that its a driver issue and ATI is aware of this issue is flat out lies! Not to mention, I have tried three different catalyst versions with the same results.
This game needs patching because as it sits now, I have a $70.00 CE boat anchor on my damn hands.
All ATI users contact ATI only way to resolve this issue!

Those two links show the issue many people including myself are having at the moment. The most common thing about them all is the ATI cards and the location of the crash Ostogar. I have been unable to play it much at all, due to the problem. Some help is badly needed. Even if to say that you are looking into it to see what is causing it.

I will keep my eye out for issues.. "fortunately" I have a legacy card, X1900XT, so am locked into 9.8 legacy drivers. May be a case where that saved me some frustration.

This maybe a long shot, but the last stable drivers for my 4870x2 are Catalyst 9.6. By stable, I mean fallout 3 doesn't crash on my HDTV
and every other game that I have has no major issues. This is not to say other games you may have will be fine if you downgrade drivers. I have had no issues with this game so far, besides the DLC fiasco, but I've got all my DLC now too. Downgrading to 9.6 isn't an option for anyone with the 58xx series cards, I know, but if you have a 48xx series or lower, it might be worth a (long) shot. I'll report back here later, once I'm farther in the game about my crash status.
To downgrade drivers, follow the instructions here:
http://downloads.gur...tup)_d1655.html
You can find 9.6 drivers here:
for Vista/Win7
http://downloads.gur...-Win-7_c31.html
for 32-bit XP
http://downloads.gur...32-bit_c18.html
for 64-bit XP
http://downloads.gur...64-bit_c29.html
Do NOT blame me if you try this and wreck something on your system. I am NOT responsable for your actions.

The suggested fix did not work for me. Still blows up within 30 seconds after entering game.

I'm using an ATI card myself and has no crash whatsoever thus far. Specifically, Radeon X1950. Already level 9 even. How strange..

Well this is worrying, i have a 3870.
Could someone try Omega Drivers? See if they work?
I found this also.
Problem #1 : Dragon Age crashing to desktop on random intervals
Solution : If you are an ATI user (specially those who use Catalyst 9.9 drivers), downgrade your video card driver to Catalyst 9.7. There are issues with running Dragon Age on ATI Catalyst 9.9 and should be fixed with the next Catalyst update

Turning off all the SmartGart option in the ATI CCC solved all my video and PC lockup problems.
Hope it helps you.

Were you having the Ostragar crash issue with an ATI card?

Well I reverted all the way back to 9.6 driver only no Catalyst and still I load in Ostragar and go to black screen of death, locks up whole system and have to hard reboot. This has become beyond frustrating and we cannot even get a word edge wise whether or not a fix being worked on. This is unacceptable considering I and many others have less than a damn hour of play time in the game.
The issue is obviously not just an ATI driver problem but a combination of craptastic programming and the driver. No way in hell four drivers should not work and the blame is all on ATI.

Yeah I'm seeing glitch in big neon letters atm sadly. I've graphic tested on Doom3, Aion, DDO, and Oblivion today max graphics and no issues. Considering it's occurring at the same location Ostegar sounds like a DO issue then drivers atm. I'll keep ya posted on tech supports info.

Good luck with that because the idiot I had on the telephone today was useless. Welcome to EA tech support the worst of the worst. matte rof fact they logged my entire conversation to the support ticket information linked to my account and the heading read "Madden Support". WTH, the guys for Madden tech are usless at Madden let alone this game...

The location specific crash does make it sound like a game problem. But then I have a 3870 x2, and many people having issues seem to have them with slightly older Radeons. Would be nice if BioWare could give us a "We're looking into it."

Were you having the Ostragar crash issue with an ATI card?
I don't know. Have not gotten that far yet. Turning off the SmartGart settings solved all my ATI video problems under the Character Generator, and have not, yet, had any video problems in DA.

Just noticed DeadSpace has EA logo on it also.I bought it last year and had no problems at all running it but a lot of people had major problems with Comps way above system specs and it never got fixed. If I recall correctly it was a black screen as soon as the game tried to load the splash screen.Buddy of mine with a better Comp still can't play it.
