I am an ATI user and I have not experienced a single problem at all. And I have logged many hours playing.
I am running:
Intel i7 920 @ 3.0GHz (OC'd) CPU
6GB DDR3 1600 Patriot Viper Memory
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Mobo
Onboard Sound
Sapphire HD4870 1GB x2 (Crossfire)
Windows Vista 64bit
I'll check what version my CCC is when I get off work here in like 13 minutes.

No problems at all with a 3870 and 9.10 drivers.
PC is a couple years old now, Win XP, Core 2 Duo 3.0 ghz, 2 gigs RAM.
Maybe using XP is the key to no problems.

I wonder if there's an incompatibility with some other resident software like AV or firewall - it's happened before on other games. Also, people who've used other drivers have you properly cleared your system of the original ones using Driver Sweeper or equivalent?

Other than that, I had CTDs every 20/30 minutes, but I fixed that by running the game on only one processor core, as opposed to using the full dual core CPU.

I wish that were the case. I have the same stats other than having more ram but I have this problem.

crash hasn't happened again yet. But i still think the saves are not
getting done properly.
Here is everything i did to get the game working again.
1. Use the daorigins.exe found in the "Dragon Age/bin_ship/" directory only. Do not use the launcher
2. Open properties for daorigins.exe.
3. Set Compatibility to Windows XP Service pack TWO...make sure it is two and NOT pack three!
4 Tick the box "Run this program as an Admimistrator"
5. run daorigins, exe, go to options
6. Set Graphics to HIGH. Have not confirmed if it works on Very High yet.
7. Turn Anti Aliasing OFF
8. Load a save game made by you.
9. Immediately hit F5 Quicksave
10. Immediately hit F9 Quickload.
Hope it helps

Then VPU recovery kicks in and brings the video driver back online and the game continues as if nothing had happened.
Odd, now that I think about it, MY VPU Recovery DOES NOT kick back in! I wonder why!
Radeon 3870 here, also... Same issues as everyone else with this...

It would be REALLY swell if they would at LEAST ACKNOWLEDGE that they are looking at this problem!I can find no mention of it whatsoever ANYWHERE in any of the official support resources! :-\\\\

Yep, its obvious EA and AMD/ATI don't give a **** because nothing is being said or done. That's alright, tommorow my GTX 275 arrives and then we will see if it is the card specific or a duo core issue or both.

Today's patch was just a fix for the 1.01a that was creating issues under certain installs. It is supposed to fix the two main issues listed in the "Fix for Patch 1.01a" sticky and does nothing else.

My Rig.
Windows Vista 32Bit
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.3Ghz (Overclocked to 3.2GHZ)
Radeon 4870 512MB
4GB Ram
Logitech G15 Keyboard
I can only suggest you take a look at gamecopyworld.com, their no-cd stopped the crash for me, was suggested on a tech forum I frequent. Please delete this if mentioning these things are not allowed.

Started another dwarf noble but have not been able to get to to Ostragar yet. I will update as soon as I hit it tomorrow. However, between the new card and the new monitor at 1900X1200, it looks like a completely different game all together. The GTX 275 smokes the 3870 to dust and I have yet to peak 70 degrees at max settings. Furthermore, i found it interesting that my Trend Micro virus program loaded so slow then I deleted all ATI files and it loads in half the time while also loading precision and the nvidia settings. Amazing!
