Don't even joke.

He's not the only one thinking that tbh.

I'm sure BioWare is heavily considering a set protagonist game built around a character that the fanbase has expressed intense hatred towards.

Yup. He's alive. Dead people don't "breathe".

Agree.  And they would not put file name as a End03_shepard_alive_Fem /male  And every other files also have name indicating what happens in the movie, so they did not just put it for the lulz.

Players shouldn't have to open up the files and read them.  That's not "clarity and closure"

that's extra special clarity and closure. To think dead shep didn't get such special treatment!

Well it's not like there haven't been lies before...many remember the ME3 we were told we would get and we all remember the one we got instead.

This. I'm not believing anything until it ships.

He was featured in the most recent comic series, I wouldn't put it past them.

So was Brooks!

Anyway, the things listed in my quoted post should be a pretty clear indicator of why they're not going in that direction.

A 30-50 hour game based off his experience? Won't happen.

A set protagonist is not happening.

Kai Leng makes even less sense than all those insane fans who say we're playing as Shepard's kid, or Garrus, or whatever.

If I had to predict anything, the protagonist in MENext will be even less defined than Shepard. Racial options, maybe, like what Dragon Age is doing.

It's more fun to take it "seriously" than not. :P

I would spec Kai Leng as a Krogan Warlord.

I doubt Shepard's coming back again as his/her story was always meant to be a trilogy, and there's just so many more stories that can be told in this universe than through the eyes of one commander. Yes, Shepard played a very key and important role in the Mass Effect universe, but I'm sure there are others like him/her out there.

That's my problem, I guess. I don't even know what Shepard did to begin with. I've got an idea, but a part me of doesn't want to take it at face value. This can't be it, can it? lol

Drew Karpyshyn's opinion should be consulted, he was the lead writer for ME 1 and 2 and there were no major complaints from the fans

False. Have you not read through the responses from the "hardcore fans" about the pointlessness of ME2's plot and the inanity of the Baby Reaper?

That's nothing compared to the ME3 ending. I didn't say that Drew was perfect, but he pleased most of the fans, including the majority of the hardcore players.

Considering that your objective in ME3 was to Destroy the Reapers , then it stands to reason that the red ending is the canon.

Was that the objective really? Seems like they took some LSD and decided you should love the Reapers instead.

why not have the best of both worlds.. we play as a tank born clone made from shepards DNA.
Were found in a long abandoned cerberus facility... only one active pod remains...

We would be able to customize the way he/she looks... he/she wouldnt have sheps memories.. so we would be given a fresh start.. a blank slate for a personality.

This would satisfy those wanting a connection to shepard... and satisfy those wanting a new character... this is the storyline i want.. but who knows... i thought the clone in mass effect 3 was a clue to what might come next... not just for fun...

I kind of hope there's more to Brooks at least.. not so sure about clones. But like caldas says, it could work, I guess. As for Brooks, she's what I wish Miranda or Kai Leng were: Someone good at infiltration/sneakiness/deception. I could tolerate another Cerberus story if they were written that way. But maybe for other people, they've already overstayed their welcome.
