let it go. Let it go!

Can't hold it back anymore.

Why do you have to hold that back?

In any case, my answer to that is "No."

Because we love ME.

If you loved ME, you'd let it's greatest hole in logic disappear already.

Don't trouble yourself with me.

I'll let it go if they do. But I'm not going to say I don't want it. Then I'd be full of sh*t.

Isn't three games with an emotional brick dullard and imbecile enough? Why do we need him back for a fourth?

The first two games had a dullard.

But he had swagger.

The third game wasn't an emotional brick. Although he sucked. I'll give you that.

What would be the point of that? Launch a marketing campaign to kill preorders and manufacture stock shortages (retailers presumably won't be told about this ploy)... and force people to buy digital on Origin?

Actually, selling more copies on Origin would look pretty good to EA. Anyone know what the retailer split is? This could make sense.

Is it possible for Bioware to lie? Yes. But I doubt they would lie about Shepard. There is no point in him/her returning, especially as the protagonist again. Shepard became the first human Spectre, defeated on the best Spectres, died, was resurrected, lead an unlikely team to survive a supposed "suicide mission", then united a galaxy to battle the Reapers and make a decision that would alter the galaxy forever. I too would miss Shepard, but it's better for him/her to leave with us wanting more, rather than having Shepard be around for so long that we just want him/her to go away. Besides, it would be nice to get a new perspective, preferably an alien, and not a human perspective.

Well, I would hope they are lying. Would love to see Shepard back, and the old team.
Would be the best lie ever as far as I'm concerned, but I doubt it.

What about a more synthetic perspective?

Because he/she was one of the big reasons the game was as successful as it was. And if you didn't like the protagonist (Shepard) why did you bother playing all those games?

Well if we do get a new Shepard game (I don't think we will, but IF), then destroy is the only option because Shepard dies in every other ending. It doesn't even need canonizing. It's literally the only possibility to continue with Shepard. Choosing synthesis or control will be like letting Shepard die in the SM. You can do it, but you won't be able to continue the story.

And people shouldn't even be b****ing about it, because they chose to kill off their Shepard if they picked control, synthesis or refuse.

I will still pre-order the next Mass Effect game, regardless of marketing.

lol... I doubt that reasoning will work out well, if it happened. ****ing would happen regardless.

Of course they will. But they shouldn't. They were told Shepard would die (and the Reapers would live lolol), and still went for it.

Like you've seen me say before:

Control - Memories, not spirit or body of Shepard
Synthesis - Spirit, not memories or body of Shepard
Destroy - Body, but Memories(?), Spirit(?) of Shepard

There are still unknowns, but the biggest standout keywords for each ending were 'memory' for Control, 'essence' for Synthesis, and the breath scene itself for Destroy.

You may think this disagrees with you, but it doesn't do that too much. What I'm saying is that even if the story continued for Control and Synthesis along with Destroy, the former two are done in acknowledgement that ME3's Shepard died-died, no matter what result comes afterward.

Can Bioware do a mega-marketing ploy ? Can they lie to the fans of ME to lower their expectations , then on the final day announce that ME4 is all about Shepard and his future ?

It's within the realm of plausibility, but it is incredibly unlikely to happen. They have a hard enough time as it is with the fanbase - pulling that would be very unwise.

If people picked Control and Synthesis, especially Synthesis, and have a story where Shepard in some form can optionally return in the next game, they better be shouted down.

These people picked Control and Synth. The options which outright show Shepard dying in front of us, in power-grasping or messiah-jumping imagery haha.

I'd say this too for Destroy even. However, the breath scene, and the more vague terms by the Catalyst suggest things are more variable with Destroy.

Control? Well, you got Shepard's memories intact. That's something, right?
Synthesis? Well, you got Shepard's essence 'spread'. That's something, right?

However they turn out?

Or they could know that they just have to pull a Citadel DLC (not necessarily DLC, but just how their game is made) and 'fans' will fall right in line.

And they did. And they bought the DLC. And they bought the MP packs. And they eventually understood that a game ending they didn't like is a game ending they didn't like. And for those who didn't, there are more gamers waiting to see what's the fuss and to try out a game that looks cool on store shelves.

If I'm wrong, then we'll see the sales numbers. I'm not exactly defending them here, but acknowledging what may be the business and social realities.

We'll be able to assume a lot if they allow some kind of import or Genesis type feature for the next game. Until then.....

IKR. There's a lot of little bits of information we're missing, but yeah, if we learn what just mentioned...

my theory goes something like this. we'll get 3 games, but instead of them being mass effect 4, 5 ,and 6; they'll be mass effect: control, mass effect: synthesis, and mass effect: destroy. the destroy game will be the last one to come out and WILL have shepard. control and synthesis ones will have a new protagonist after shepard gave into indoctrination
