lol in ME1 I charm her, and Hacket approves afterwards. in ME2 my Shep has a much different mindset, the whole "I don't answer to anyone anymore, I'm dead" thing. in ME2 I also rack up the highest renegade score out of all 3 games.

she annoys the hell outta me in ME1 but I suck it up long enough to get away from her with my head held high, but my Shep is REALLY pissed off come ME2 and he remembers everyone and everything they did. so I give Al-Jilani what's coming to her, after that smear job she tried to pull off.

in ME3 she still hasn't learned her lesson, so I try to get it through her thick skull, by using MY skull lol.

Excellent.

Headbutting is a good choice to do in any situation.

She is a nobody to my Shepard so no I don't punch her. I have more important things to worry about

I wonder how many people took the nice approach because they were hoping Shepard would finally get the chance to hit that, if ya know what I mean.

I don't punch her. I mean, she's not as rude as Jeremy Paxman.

The lack of a Renegade persuade in ME3 was annoying.

Actually I've just thought that the violence she suffers is a bit disturbing. An ordinary women is basically assaulted for doing her job (and you are encouraged to do so). There is no arguable greater good or punishment for misdeeds aspect.
I know it's 'only a game' but that argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
I think I might charm her from now on.

I agree - a Shepard of either gender is logically going to be much physically stronger than a reporter, which makes it petty bullying at best, and MShep punching her is especially distasteful. Some of my Shepards will yell at her or walk off the interview, but punching her feels excessive.

This. It's really uncomfortable for me to see a trained soldier, backed up with who knows what kind of genetic mods and then Cerberus implants, knock an unarmed and unthreatening civilian to the ground hard enough that she is potentially rendered unconscious. It's just really distasteful, and I'm really not comfortable that this is a running gag, something that's played for laughs.

Pretty much this. Bullying the press is the tactic of dictators. If I couldn't have Emily Wong, I'd rather take AlJilani on board than that boring and poorly acted Allers woman.

To be fair though, at least in ME1, you were not encouraged to do so at all. In fact, punching her is probably the least desirable option on the dialogue wheel and the fallout of it is the worst as well (such as it is).
By the time of ME2/3, it already became a bit of a meme that can't really be taken seriously (which is one more reason why I usually don't do it). Just look at the surveilance videos in LotSB.
I agree that punching someone like her is disturbing (although by far not the most disturbing thing you can do) but I fully agree with the person in this thread who said that it is good to have the punch option, just so you can not do it. Without the opportunity for the player to make that sort of choice, playing a "good" character has much less impact IMO.

what about Allers? ok to punch her? or at least trip her on the way out when she starts sending out those stupid signals even though I already got a boyfriend?

some people laugh when they kick her off and then find out the next ship she went on, crashed.

I punched her for the same reason if GTA had children I'd spend the whole time running over kids.
