Some sources claim, that it cost amd between 5 and 8 million dollars to convince DICE to make mantle renderer. 8m $ equals to 160.000 copies sold across several games: battlefield 4, dragon age: inquisition and other frostbite 3 games. So the question is: would opengl be profitable to ea, since I imagine opengl renderer would lead to 160k sales on mac os alone(there are between 5 and 15% mac os users out there, 1.6m copies on windows means 160k on mac os). But what I really hope for is linux port, since it uses opengl it should not be hard to do, if they are going to support mac(using cross platform libraries). Or is there a chance for amd version of the game on linux/mac if they bring mantle to this platforms? IIRC Dragon Age: Origins had mac support. So what do you think? Is there any chance for us to see some other platforms supported, or are we stuck with widnows?

I think it really depends on costs, for if those rumored numbers of eight million are correct, the number of copies you listed won't be enough for that would only be a break even point if there wasn't any distribution costs.
Right now I think the best situation for any Mac OS game is they will take a wait and see approach with how the game sells and if it sells really well there might be a chance for a port. With Linux I think its going to be more of a "how do other games do" for its still an unknown for the big AAA games. Now even if a smaller publisher sees a 10% sales on a Linux distribution, it might not be enough for a game like Dragon Age: Inquisition, for they might have more costs tied up in a conversion then a smaller developer with a much smaller game and staff.
My belief with Mantle is that developers see it as an easier way to get a game working on all three platforms at the same time for it will allow developers to program for the PC more like programming for a console, so it would be a cost savings in the long run.
