Game Stop and the Collectors Edition

Now, I have a copy of ME2 pre ordered and paid off, but it's NOT the collectors Edition. I would LOVE to get a collectors edition, but it was disabled. I know the people who work there, and they told me that it was open for pre-order for about a week.
What exactly is going on here? I can search and find the collectors edition at a large number of other stores. I am aware I can go to another store to get ME2 Collectors, but I want the M-490 Blackstorm gun.
So as far as I can tell, EA or Bioware (I don't know who's call it was) is basically forcing a boost in sales by forcing people who want the GameStop exclusive content and the Collectors Edition content to buy two copies of the game at two entirely different stores.
This is just wrong! I really want an explanation for this, because I really do want both the CE and the GameStop content, but I can't afford to get 2 copies of the game. Even if I could, it's still in my eyes basically an evil tactic to make the appearance of better sale numbers.

Keep in mind, the issue isn't with Bioware, but the retailers themselves.

Well, that seems to be your local gamestops fault. I pre-ordered mine no prob (although, I am going to get it off of Steam anyway, so I'm not going to pick up my pre-order from gamestop, ill eat the 5 bucks itll cost me).

Also, the pre-order was a Christmas present. Explain how I had a choice on when I could pre-order it?

And yet, every other game out there that said that never had that happen.

They LIED. The DAO CEs were also sold out months ahead and this was just a couple months back mind you. Not really something they should quickly forget about.

My Gamestop won't even be doing a midnight release because they only got 30 pre-orders for mass effect 2. Honestly? Not even a midnight release?! I ordered the CE edition and they told me they could have taken plenty more CE pre-orders. I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Sad that Utah gamers are a minority or happy that I will never have to worry about not getting a game. Ever.
I'm going to go with the latter.

Gamestop only got so many copies and they sold out fast because everyone wanted that black storm gun.Unfortunately the only advice I can give you is wait one week after launch, and check gamestop for returns,It's always some one who bought Mass Effect for the first time and didn't know it was also an RPG.1031982 wrote...
Ok, I am aware that this may have come up before, but I have more direct question.

and I don't think even that will help get you that black storm gun.

That, or try Best Buy. They might have more copies then they should.

My argument is mainly with the fact they bundled an exclusive gun with Game Stop, (The only one being advertised as well as being the one most people want) and did not allow a proper amount of CE titles to go with that store.

Dude must just be your area cause i'm in Utah (Centerville) and they sold out of CE's in a few hours and are having a massive midnight launch party. I did not get my CE ordered on time (naturally) so I ordered it offline, and will pick up a standard edition as well night off. Yes I'm buying two copies of the game...no I don't have a good reason to other than I really bad wanted the CE version....

Dude, I asked the bloke at my GS and was told that they only order a limited number of CE's. They run into issues in the past of ordering too much CE's that end up not selling and costing the company money. So there's no "proper amount" at all. They'll gladly sell out of CE's before they order more. If Bioware doesnt produce anymore then its not GS's fault. Thier bottom line is more important than your happiness. Its life man, live with it, or open up a game store yourself... And then name it NOOBSTOP.
BTW I never knew the BestBuy conspiracy untill now! Really? 75%! W0wz0rz!
