ME1...any reason to take Neural Shock past 1 point?

Hi there,

I'm doing a Sentinel run that will probably be my last full-trilogy playthrough.  In addition to just being something different from my Hacking Infiltrator and Singularity Vanguard, I chose Sentinel because it will allow me to unlock one of the only two trophys I have left: Neural Shock.  (The other is Insanity, which will be the subject of another thread.)

I've just finished Therum and have used Neural Shock a handful of times thus far.  I'm playing through twice so that I only need to sink 2 points into Intimidate to pass all Renegade persuade checks on the "official" playthrough I will import to ME2.

So the question...unlike some other talents, the points spent between upgrades of Neural Shock seem pretty useless.  Cooldown on medi-gel?  Whoopty-do.  Hell, I had to force myself to use medi-gel to finally unlock the First Aid trophy.  I was doing things like shooting containers at short range and immediately gelling.  So do I really want to sink 6 points to get 2 more seconds of having the enemy on the ground?  Seems they could be better spent on upgrading Throw or Barrier (or anything, really).

In ME1? Not really, not unless you playing a Medic Sentinel/Engineer. And Bastion Sentinel is better than Medic Sentinel anyway for the abilit to damage enemies in Stasis and constantly recharging Barrier.

I think the 2 extra seconds for Advanced Neural Shock is good against Krogan, but not much else.

So no, no real reason to take Neural Shock past 1 point.

I agree, it isn't really worth it.

But 1 pt Neural Shock can be very helpful if you start a game at Level 1 on high difficulties.

If you are a Operative Engineer - aka "combat supporter god" - actually it makes every sense to maximize your medicine to your heart's content, since you'll gain more cooldown in your medigel.
And even with colossus armor X + energized plating X + medicalexoskeleton X, medigel is the engineer best friend. LOL

I prefer not spending points on First Aid/Medicine, only the necessary to unlock Neural Shock. Medi-gel comes in a limited supply, so it's better to rely on First Aid/Medical Interface/Exoskeleton, and spend the points in more damaging abilities.
